Breaking Down the Genius: 3 Creators Who Nailed Super Bowl Ads

The Super Bowl isn't just about touchdowns; it's also the time when ad gurus flex their creative muscles for the world to see. Beyond the field, these three Glimmer creators stood out with their ads.

No fluff, no frills – just a closer look at the brains behind this year's standout Super Bowl commercials. From run and gun to mind-blowing visuals, these ads weren't just 30-second distractions; they were experiences.

Let's cut to the chase and break down the stories of three creatives who stole the spotlight with their game-changing Super Bowl ads.

Zachary Bishop

Zachary Bishop produced this spot for the NFL and the City of Miami to introduce Miami as the host city for the 2020 Super Bowl. The video promotes “The Magic City” as a place with heart: “It’s not about the lights, camera, action, cars, and views. It’s about the spirit and pride of the people that remain true,” the narrator raps.

Zach and his team used their creative horsepower to promote Miami as a prime cultural destination, and it worked.

Enter the mind behind the 2020 Georgia Furniture Mart Super Bowl ad: Kyle Skelnar. Handling everything from pitching, filming, editing and coloring, Kyle and his team executed the entire production with expertise in just two weeks.

Curious how he pulled off a Super Bowl ad in record time? "We kept it simple – one location for speed and budget, and of course, we dialed up the humor. Comedy sells faster, in my opinion. Everyone enjoys a communal laugh, so you gain attention far quicker than you do pulling on somebody's heartstrings. And it feels less gimmicky.”

The 2023 Super Bowl was a gripping matchup as as the Chiefs, led by Travis Kelce, squared off against the Eagles, with Travis's brother, Jason Kelce, playing as the center. With a final score of 38-35, the Chiefs emerged victorious, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Glimmer creator Will Strathmann showcased his exceptional talent by capturing the pre-show excitement with his drone. “Not only was it incredibly fun to fly in such a challenging and unique environment around such high profile athletes, but I loved how well the footage integrated with bigger cameras,” Will said. “We were able to get shots that would normally require lengthy setups with dollies or robotic arms.”
