As part of our traditional Storytime, we got together at our Brooklyn office last Friday and watched the best videos produced through the platform in August. One of CNNMoney’s latest profiles for their Upstarts series, this video shines a spotlight on the health food start-up, Runa Tea. After Ecuador-based shooter, Julia M., pitched this story to CNN on Storyhunter, they commissioned her to travel deep into the Amazon to film the company. For it, Julia captured Runa Tea’s guayusa farm and followed the production process from Amazonian plant to tea energy drink.

AJ+ covers unique stories from around the world that capture the attention of millions of viewers — and this is one is no exception. The flip-flops in this video are turned into art pieces and household items by a company in Nairobi, Kenya. Documentary filmmaker, Maurice O., found the story and pitched it to AJ+ on the Storyhunter platform and they commissioned him to get footage and interviews on how the sandals are transformed.
