Jeremy Wade Shockley (b. 1977) is an award winning photojournalist and self-taught photographer who has been exploring foreign lands and cultures from an early age. He first picked up a camera while serving an architectural internship in the Colonial city of Cuenca, Ecuador. This immediately developed into a passion for documenting the world around him. Jeremy returned to the United States in order to finish a degree in architecture at the University of Colorado. Shortly thereafter, he embarked on a two year Peace Corps assignment in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. In addition to continuing his work in Latin America and Africa, Jeremy has been documenting the American West for more than a decade. He worked on staff as a photojournalist for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe from 2008-2013. Jeremy has garnered numerous awards from The Society of Professional Journalists, The Native American Journalism Association and the Colorado Press Association for his photography and reporting.

I am a professional visual journalist, have been for more than 20 years. I began my career as a staff photographer at newspapers in the American West, at a time when papers still had darkrooms and photographers still processed their own film. In 1998, my wife, author Karen Coates, and I moved to Cambodia. There, I shot news, features and investigative stories for Agence France-Presse, The New York Times, The Cambodia Daily and dozens of magazines. We have since combined our talents on numerous projects examining under-reported stories across Asia and beyond, with particular focus on environment, health and social issues. For the past eight years, we have documented the widespread effects of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Laos. Our book, Eternal Harvest: The Legacy of American Bombs in Laos, was published by ThingsAsian Press in 2013. Recently I added HD video work to my high-quality still image repertoire. I am a Senior Fellow at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University and was a 2012-2013 Scripps Fellow in Environmental Journalism at the Center for Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Activist, storyteller, and public servant. With 15 years of experience in professional film and video work, I've dedicated my career to understanding narrative fiction as truth, non-fiction film as cinematic fact, and journalism as a blend of the two. The tools of making this content change all the time and I look at keeping up with these progressions as a pre-requisite while keeping the story at the center. I've worked as a producer for live events, field work, documentaries, narrative projects as well as spend time in the editing room, behind the camera, and in the classroom as a art & storytelling educator.
