Kia ora, my name is Alexander Robertson and I’m the man you want on your team. I’m your one stop shop, video journalist extraordinaire. I produce all my own videos from start to finish, researching, planning, shooting, editing and of course I can take engaging photos. For the last two years I’ve been an integral part of RNZ (New Zealand’s public broadcaster) where I was a key member in the launch of NZ's first radio simulcast, responsible for the visual studio production, field logistics, live streaming, staff training and building its video presence. First exposed to photography in the early 1980’s, I have always enjoyed capturing images of places I have been and places I want to remember and tell others about. It seems that the camera was always with me no matter where I went. On trips around the state or around the country, photographs documented my travels and memories. The pinnacle of my personal photography was between 2001 and 2005 where I had the unique opportunity to work and live in Antarctica. The amazing scenery and experiences there could only be told to others through photography. With the availability of email and internet I was able to share my adventure through digital images. In 2012 I was awarded a First Place award in News Photography from the New Jersey Press Association and a Second Place award in News Photography from the Pennsylvania Press Association. Journalism is a second career for me. I got my start in public safety and did that for 20 years before jumping over to journalism. I specialize in covering breaking and spot news especially in situations where there is heavy law enforcement presence and or interaction with firefighters or paramedics, which nowadays is just about every large event and or disaster. Speaking the “language” of public safety, understand what is happening I can read the environment and anticipate the pending actions. Having this edge helps me better cover the news and ultimately stay safe. My work has been published in local news papers like the Express-Times and national publications including the New York Times and the USA Today. William Thomas Cain is a professional photojournalist whose body of work spans from editorial to commercial in his 30 years of experience. He accredits his diverse background to his extensive education at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. While completing 4 years at the university, in 1987 Mr. Cain earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in illustration with a minor in photography. Upon his graduation William Thomas Cain began work at the Philadelphia Inquirer until 1999. While there he perfected the fine art of photojournalism by juxtaposing graphic illustrative concepts with editorial imagery. From the Philadelphia Inquirer William Thomas Cain became a contract photographer for the Associated Press, as well as joining Newsmakers Online Photo Service, now known as Getty Images, as one of their first contract photojournalists in the United States. Mr. Cain is currently represented by Getty Images, as well as Black Star, where he is the primary news source, linking Philadelphia to the New York and worldwide market.
