I'm a filmmaker who has worked on numerous corporate, reality TV, youtube channels, documentary and even a few indie feature films, I am a music composer and on occasion, performer. I'm most interested in the subjects of travel, adventure, music and the arts, as well as cultural anthropology, philosophy and indigenous mythology. I've worked throughout the U.S., in in the jungles of Costa Rica, the wilds of Alaska, the chaotic cities and rural villages of India and along the beautiful East coast of Australia. I've been able to work in nearly every capacity on projects ranging from corporate, industrial, documentary, feature narrative and webisode. My work has been showcased at SXSW, FRIARS COMEDY FILM FESTIVAL, ALAMO DRAFT HOUSE and more places that I'm sure I have not been told about. Some projects thankfully are still "making the rounds". While much of my work consists as Director of Photography and Editor my forte' is conceptual thinking and directing people in such a way as to get the best performance from them, crew or cast.

Portuguese born and raised, currently living in Austin TX. From hard news and photojournalism to music videos and feature films, I also work as a Producer and Assistant Director. Film is another outlet for me to illustrate a story and has allowed me to work with people from different areas of the US, Spain and Portugal. I came to Austin as a scholar in the Digital Media Leadership Program at UT-Austin. Now I’m a photojournalist / reporter for KUT, Austin’s NPR member station, and StateImpact Texas. I’m also a videographer for the Knight Center, Journalism in the Americas.

About Jay H.

Splitting his time between the US and China, Texas-based filmmaker Jay Hubert began his professional career as a DP in China after studying in the prestigious cinematography department at Beijing Film Academy. He then worked as an assistant to top-tier Chinese cinematographer Wang Yu on numerous commercials and feature films for several years. More recently he has shot and/or directed a number of commercials, documentaries, and promos for clients such as Apple, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Intel, Lenovo, China Unicom, Xiaomi, Evona, Nylon, and Vanke, while also working on several Chinese feature films. In 2013 he served as Director of Photography for Volkswagen Group China's "People's Car Project - Building the Car Series", a 10-episode web series awarded a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions. Hubert has written and directed over 20 short films, several of which have screened and won awards at international film festivals. He is fluent in Mandarin and Japanese, and conversant in Cantonese and Korean.

SOPHIE ROUSMANIERE - Producer/Director Sophie Rousmaniere has worked as a filmmaker and freelance journalist in the US, Canada, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Guatemala, Pakistan, Laos, Vietnam, Cameroon and Thailand. When not producing video content, advertisements and music videos, Sophie’s work is largely social issue based. She has worked on topics from child prostitution in Thailand to theater for change in Pakistan. Her first one-hour documentary, “Yellow Fever – Uncovering the Navajo Uranium Legacy” aired on 137 channels on PBS’s World Channel in the series “America Reframed” in March 2015. She is the executive director of Issue Television, a media for education non-profit 501c3 organization.
