I have always been compelled to go see what’s out there, with my “desire to know” outweighing my “fear of the unknown.” Whether it was "running away" from my grandparents house (as my grand mother put it) when I was 5 years old, because I was bored and wanted to see what my Grandfather was doing, or backpacking through the Balkans photographing the complexities of culture and history in post communist/post war communities. I am curious to see and share the possibilities and hope in these overlooked, often marginalized places. I'm inspired to examine and explore the lines on a face, weave of a fabric or set of a stone...each dropping clues to its origin and history.

Jasmin Brutus is a documentary photographer, cameraman and video editor who lives in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He has worked as a photographer for a number of major local newspapers and magazines. His works appeared in Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Le Monde Diplomatique, Het Parool, Le Temps, Le Pelerin, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Wirtschaft Woche, Monocle. He is also interested in pursuing personal stories and other documentary projects. He has received several awards including Ex-changes, sponsored by the German government and SEE New Perspectives supported by World Press Photo and Robert Bosch Stiftung. Lately, Jasmin is interested in videography and documentary filmmaking.

Larisa Jasarevic is an anthropologist. Her current research project concerns the ways in which bees and beekeepers in Bosnia weather the changing climate. She is especially interested in the meaning of bees in the Bosnian Muslim culture as well as in deep, ecological insights of Islamic eschatology--the teachings about death and planetary doom. Her research findings are the subject of a book manuscript entitled Beekeeping in the End Times (IUP 2023) and of a documentary film by the same title (currently in post-production). Her previous book, entitled Health and Wealth in the Bosnian Market: Intimate Debt, described close intersections between bodily experience and post-war economy. Larisa taught at the University of Chicago. She is a 2022 Fellow with the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) and a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
