Spang Media Budapest - Two week International journalism project in June 2023. We, six freelance journalists from the Netherlands. Going June 6 to 20 to Budapest, Hungary. Here we want to do as many freelance journalistic projects as possible aimed at young people and young adults. We look for the personal story and the best journalistic work. We are driven and passionate journalists and would like to tell inspiring and beautiful stories. Matyas Kalman graduated as a media designer from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest. He has worked as a video journalist for the major Hungarian news portal Index.hu and produced numerous short videos (444.hu, Politico, Transparency International, etc.). He was working as a Video Program Officer at Hungarian Civil Liberties Union. He was director of Happy New Year Hungary, a participatory documentary film with 300+ participants. In 2017 He was a guest lecturer at ELTE University Department of Media and Communication. Currently runs his own company, COLLOC Productions and works as Head of Video at 24.hu, one of the biggest news portals in Hungary.

I'm a freelance local producer, field producer and video journalist covering Hungary and the surroundings since 2015. I covered the refugee crisis in 2015-2016, Eastern European and EU politics and the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine for CNN, NBC, Vice, The New York Times, BBC, The Financial Times, France24 and many others. I focus on videography and local production, but I have experience in fact-checking, NGO campaigns and photography. I am based in Budapest, Hungary.
