About Hristo P.

Hello! My name is Hristo “Itso” Petkov and I am a film/video director, cinematographer and editor. My background includes working as a graphic and product designer as well as VFX specialist in Worldwide FX. There I was a 3D Lighting Artist, using software packages such as Maya, ZBrush, Nuke and Mari. I worked on Hollywood features, such as Expendables 2 and Killing Season. Over the last five years I co-owned a company, serving as its main director, editor and cinematogrpaher. Through my previous experience I have developed a full understanding of the overall pre-production, production and post-production process. I also have deep knowledge of color grading, as well as color and composition principles, as I have always found these important in my work. The software programs I use the most are Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Resolve. Moreover, I have worked with FCP and Avid on numerous occasions. I have made Internet and TV commercials, music videos and short films, and have received praise for my work at both film festivals and representatives of top brands, such as Microsoft, Samsung, Unicef, Nivea, Shell and Visa to name but a few. Apart from creating commercials, I have also made several short and mid-length films. The first of them – “1, 2, 3… Until You Find Me” was screened on the Quarantine Film Festival, where it won an award for visual excellency. My credits in this film include directing, screenwriting, editing and color-grading. The next film I was involved in, “Pigs Don’t Fly”, was screened on the Edinburgh Fringe – the biggest art festival in Europe. My credits in this film include co-directing, screenwriting, editing and color-grading. My most recent project – “A Common Connection”, was screened on the Sofia International Film Festival, as well as in Edinburgh and was extremely well accepted by both Bulgarian and British audience. My credits in this film include co-directing, screenwriting, editing and color-grading, and cinematography. I have also been a hobbyist photographer for more than seven years.

Working as a Freelance Multimedia Journalist she focus her work on social and environmental topics in Bulgaria, Spain and the Netherlands. Her own equipment (DSLR camera), language and communication skills (Spanish, Dutch and English) in addition to her perseverance have brought her also to Nepal and Paraguay.

I was involved in creating imaginary realities since childhood. Which naturally led to BA in Directing in 2009. In 2010 my ultra-short film WATER (30 sec. long) won First Prize at eDit (int. film fest in Frankfurt, Germany) and went on to participate on various festivals around the world. My curiosity updates my visual style with the latest trends, and the touch of romance distinguishes my directing. I've directed and produced short films, documentaries, commercials, fashion videos.

My name is Hristo Rusev, 26 yrs old freelance photographer. Stringer photojournalist for Getty Images and storyteller documentary cameraman for Bulevardi.bg, based in Bulgaria. I have been working as a photographer for 12 years. I have reported on: Conflict zones, social issues, political changes, sport and my photographs have been published in media like: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, TIME, Le Figaro, Handelsblatt, DW and others. In 4 years I won the prize for the Best young Bulgarian photojournalist by BG PRESS PHOTO, I am proud that in 2017 a picture of mine was amongst the top rated in Magnum photography awards and Honorable mention in Paris Photo Prize in 2018, pic of mine is selected as one of the world's best travel photos of 2019 by CNN. 2020 PX3 Honorable mention in category Music/Advertise. 2020 Piblished my new photo book"Vasko Vassilev - Back Light". It is documentary story about the life backstage of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Concert Master backstage, Vasko Vassilev.
