I create handcrafted documentary films full of heart and empathy. Films that inspire and resonate long after viewing. Stories of heroes and victims, science and progress, climate and environment. With more than 20 years as a photojournalist and filmmaker, my passion for storytelling has taken me from the burning ghats of Varanasi, India, to a smuggler's tunnel in Nogales, Mexico. Capturing the complexities of the human spirit and creating images that move others to act is the greatest gift of my profession. During my newspaper career, I was twice named Scripps Howard photographer of the year and earned dozens of national and international awards. I work for newspapers, including The Washington Post and NY Times, magazines and media outlets, as well as commercial and nonprofit clients. I also teach video storytelling and serve as a board member of the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar.
