Journalist and Videomaker. I work in the guerrilla video style. Often in good condition, but most often in adverse situations. I write scripts, direct reports, also go out with the camera in hand recording scenes and testimonials. I love to do audio capture too. I've recorded in dozens of indigenous territories, some spent months living next to them, sleeping in hammocks and having to hunt to eat. I have experience of recording in rivers of the Amazon, in small boats and small airplanes. I also spent two years in northeastern Brazil recording about the social inclusion of underprivileged children through sport. Everything related to documentaries can call me that I can handle it. Direction, recording, editing, whatever and wherever I do.

My name is Santi Carneri (La Plata, Argentina, 1987). I'am a freelance journalist, photographer and videographer based in Paraguay since 2013. I combine personal long-term projects with editorial assignments in photo, text, audio and vídeo from international clients. I was born in Argentina but I grew up in Spain. I have both nationalities: Argentine and Spanish. I have worked as a reporter, fixer, producer and photographer for The New York Times, Associated Press (AP), The Guardian, El País, Univision, Deustche Welle, Al Jazzera and BBC, among many others companies, brands and media. Before been a freelancer, I started my carrier as a local reporter and photographer in Madrid. And then as a junior correspondent for EFE/EPA (European Press Agency) in Spain, Brazil and then in Paraguay. In 2020 I was nominated for the Gabo Prize for Journalism in the Image category for my documentary short film "Sin Condena", which combines photography and video to show the injustice that exists in Paraguayan prisons. In 2015, Amnesty International Paraguay gave the honor to receive the Peter Benenson Award for Journalism Commited with Human Rights. My photos have been exhibetd in Spain, Paraguay, Guatemala and Colombia. And I'm the creator and edtior of the photo colective Everyday Paraguay that shows the work of paraguayan artists all over the world. I hold a degree in Journalism from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). I speak spanish, english, portuguese and a bit of guaraní.

I hold a masters degree in creative media at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, exploring narratives with 360 video, virtual reality and spatial audio, as powerful immersive tools to tell stories. As a photographer and video-maker I have covered, over the past 20 years, subjects ranging from development to identity issues and current affairs, through assignments for the international media, NGOs and various commercial organisations. I am part of the network of international photographers collaborating with London-based Panos Pictures. My clients include The Guardian, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Telegraph Magazine, The Financial Times Magazine, Monocle Magazine, the BBC, Le Monde, L’Express Magazine, Liberation, Dagens Nyheter, Politiken, Newsweek, Save The Children, ActionAid, Christian Aid, Fairtrade Foundation, Max Havelaar, Oxfam, Comic Relief and UNESCO, to name just a few. I was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where I got a degree in engineering (robotics), but switched to photography in 1997.
