About Derek R.

Derek Alan Rowe (Director, Editor, Motion Graphics Animator) is a co-founder of Doctrine Creative with offices in Orlando, Fl and Durham, NC. From a very young age, Derek spent most of his time developing ideas, and found digital media was the best way to express them. He has grown from a graphic designer, to web designer, to video editor. He has worked with Disney, Nickelodeon, TLC, plus many other independant projects. Derek’s goal is to produce inspiring and meaningful media. In 2008 he directed a full-length feature film called “Out On Parole” and just completed a documentary film called “Within Reach” that is currently touring festivals.

About Pilar T.

Pilar Timpane is a filmmaker and producer based in Durham, NC. Her work has focused on women's stories, immigration narratives, and religious communities with the aim of using storytelling for social change. She holds a BA from Rutgers University and a Masters in Theological Studies from Duke University Divinity School. She co-directed and produced SANTUARIO (2019, PBS/ReelSouth & AlJazeera). SANTUARIO was the winner of the Best Documentary Short Jury Prize at New Orleans Film Festival 2018 as well as the Crested Butte ActNow Award and the IF/Then Shorts American South Pitch. She is an alumna of the New Orleans Film Society Southern Producers Lab, Indie Grits Real Fiction Lab, and Women in Film/Stella Artois Finishing Fund. She was named a 2021 Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artist by the Durham Arts Council. Pilar is a 2022 ITVS/NEH Humanities Documentary Development Fellow and a Logan Nonfiction Program Fellow, working on her first feature film as director, about the changing role of women in the Catholic Church.

Hi all! My name is Adrian E. Schwarz and I'm currently based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I work as a director/producer on documentaries and educational videos. I studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design with a focus on narrative filmmaking and then I did news camera training in New York with AP and CBS cameramen. I can handle any phase of the production workflow and I keep myself updated with any new changes in technology. I'm currently producing a Feature Documentary for Casa Grande Interactive, and I keep myself as busy as possible by doing freelance projects on the side. I've done event coverage, NGO spots, narrative films and documentary films. My work has been featured on PBS and has won multiple festival awards.

Erin attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a specialization in photojournalism. Erin's work has been featured in international publications and media and has been recognized by The Associated Collegiate Press, College Photographer of the Year and South by Southwest. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1976 with a BA degree in psychology. I began my filmmaking career in 1977 after completing the Professional Filmmaker’s Workshop at NYU in the summer of 1977. It was the summer of Son of Sam and the big New York Blackout. It all made for a very memorable summer in my life. I returned to North Carolina and begin pursuing my career. Over the past 32 years I have had the pleasure and opportunity to act as Director of Photography on four regional Emmy winning documentaries and several others that received prestigious awards. I have traveled to and worked in 35 different states and over twenty countries on five continents. On a trip to Kenya I had the opportunity to photograph wild animals roaming about the Masai Mara National Reserve, while there to document the installation of a swinging bridge over a river to help the Masai villagers travel safely during rainy seasons. In India we visited and documented the Banjara Tribe, a nomadic tribe known for their colorful celebrations. I have also traveled to Zambia, South Africa, Jordan, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and Tibet where I have had the opportunity to photograph many indigenous peoples any many compelling stories of life in other cultures. In the last few years I have concentrated on long form documentaries that explore various people’s cultures and how those cultures are intertwined with society in general. Below is a complete list of feature length documentaries I have served on. The passion for my vocation has grown steadily throughout my career and remains with me to this day.
