21 reviewsThere are only two major documentary shows produced in Ukraine that I haven't been part of. Netflix's 'Winter on fire' and BBC's Ukrainian episode of the 'Top gear'. The first one didn't need me being based at the real-time footage filmed by more than 100 video streamers of the Maidan Revolution in 2014. The second one turned out to be dull. 'The Russian Woodpecker' about Chernobyl zone which was also advertised as something big coming from Ukraine is more of a sensationalist trick rather than a documentary. Each and every big Western documentary production company working in Ukraine has hired me to do the job. Major works are listed on my IMDB profile and at my agency's website. IMDB profile: imdb.com/name/nm3002393 Website: fixerukraine.com I've worked as a local producer/ fixer for the majority of the Vice's shows in Ukraine including 'Cold War 2.0', 'Black Market', 'Cyberwar', 'Gaycation' and 'World in Disarray', BBC's 'The Great Continental Railway Show with Michael Portillo' and 'Inside Chernobyl's Megatomb', Chernobyl's episode of the 'Abandoned Engineering' fro Discovery, History's 'Cities of Underworld' and many more. Here is short CV: 2014 - 2018 - full-time freelance local producer/ fixer (NBC, NatGeo, Vice, BBC, AJ, Discovery, RTL4, BNN Vara etc.) 2014 - 2016 - producer (Vocativ) 2004 - 2014 - part-time fixer for Western media/ television director & presenter for local media (1+1, STB, New Channel) 2002 - 2004 - E.Muskie program fellow (Ohio University Graduate Media Arts program) 1998 - 2004 - journalist for the major Ukrainian television companies (1+1, First National Channel, Inter)

David L.
Seattle, WA, USA
$1200 - $4000
9 reviewsA native of Mexico City, I am a seasoned story teller with over 18 years experience working on major brands, both in Latin America and in the United States. Growing up in a city of over 24 million people has taught me many things, including how to get along with other people. Maybe that’s why I love the collaborative nature of my work. When the creative juices are flowing between like minded people is when the work is at its best, and I prefer to be right there in the middle of it. I have little use for the vacuums formed by creative despotism. I love film, photography, art, food, beer and of course music. In fact, music is probably the most influential thing in my life. Just like a good edit is made great by the right music and the right beat my life is constantly being improved with the addition of just the right soundtrack. I love the outdoors, especially any activity that keeps me in tune with the rhythms of nature. Snowboarding and surfing top my list, but I’m usually up for anything and to keep the muscles and joints ready to go I hit the yoga studio while enjoying city life. I try and live my life like taking on a double-black diamond run in knee-deep powder; laidback and fun, but intense and focused all at the same time. I prefer hugs to handshakes and I never leave home without some good music and an open mind.

Daily assignments have given him access to a wide range of subjects—from a longtime underboss of the Colombo crime family was released from prison at the age of 102, Trump Impersonators with different political views performing in the Trump era. $800 - $1800
4 reviewsI'm a reporter, writer, and editor specializing in healthcare and science. My passion is capturing the voices of researchers, patients and caregivers. I tell stories that show why the wonky stuff matters. As a former reporter and editorial writer at the Los Angeles Times, I wrote about malaria in East Africa and the twin epidemics of obesity and diabetes in East LA. My editorials were part of a 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning series on mismanagement, malpractice and racial injustice at a public hospital. I was a Knight-Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and studied climate change as a journalism fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass., and at Toolik Lake Field Station in Alaska's Brooks Range. As a travel writer, I've published stories on camper vans in New Zealand, beer in Portland and wildflowers in the California desert. I also research and write discussion guides for a nonprofit, nonpartisan research group on topics such as Internet privacy and freedom, the U.S. role in the world and immigration reform.

7 reviewsCurran is an award-winning documentary and commercial director originally from Boston, MA (no, he does not have the accent). Currently residing in Seattle, WA, he hopes to use his work to “cultivate a more active and empathetic interest in the people and places around us.” When the cameras are busy charging, you can find Curran jumping out of airplanes, getting his hands dirty in the Pacific Northwest backcountry, or pitching a tent under the stars. A spirit for unique stories and visceral content has brought Curran around the world and back - living in floating fishing villages on the East China Sea, documenting microbiologists traversing underground cave systems in British Columbia, and most recently accompanying the New Zealand women’s soccer team to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

I strive to capture perspectives that are unique and compelling. I operate in a personal and laid back way often connecting with my clients and subjects to make sure I get the most natural responses and interactions. While I place a high importance on letting the action unfold with minimal interference, I am not afraid to harken back to my work in dramatic pieces to direct the subjects to ensure that the best shot is captured.
