If you are looking for a professional video editor, you have come to right place! But first, a little about my experience and qualifications: My interest in video production really began in college. I discovered early on that a little creativity combined with the right software is key to success in a technology driven world. This understanding enabled me to learn as much as I could about Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, Audition, and Dreamweaver. After four long years, I received my degree in multimedia with a minor in media production the at the University of Nebraska in Kearney in 2018. While I learned a lot during my time in college, most of my video editing experience came from working at KLKN-TV Channel 8 Eyewitness News, an ABC affiliate. Over the past year and a half, I edited more than one thousand shows. Not only did I learn rather quickly the importance of deadlines, I also discovered that finding the perfect balance between working independently and with a team was imperative to the success of the news station. Our team had to make sure that we were creating engaging content every day to keep our viewers interested. I chose to leave the news industry in order to fully open myself to other opportunities that required a little more creative freedom on my end. I believe my skills are easily transferable and my desire to work on projects that require a little more post-production work is unmatched. Growing up on a farm/ranch instilled a strong work ethic. Katie Mathews is a filmmaker and cultural anthropologist based in New Orleans. She has experience in production management, directing, and editing, but her primary passion is creative producing documentary and hybrid films. Most recently, Katie directed and produced the POST COASTAL, a series of documentary shorts about coastal communities’ response to land loss in Louisiana, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and in partnership with the Smithsonian and Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. She is currently producing MOSSVILLE, a documentary feature currently in post production, that explores the psychological trauma of community displacement at the hands of the petrochemical industry, and is developing ROLEPLAY, feature documentary about performance and vulnerability. Prior to her work in film, Katie worked as an anthropologist and ethnographer at global design firm IDEO, where she led qualitative research, using individual stories to inspire new systems in education and the public sector. Katie holds a BA in Communications from Northwestern University and has completed continuing education work at the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies and in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Additionally, Katie teaches Research Methods in Social Innovation at Tulane University, and is currently leading a research and documentary project around sexual assault with students on Tulane’s campus.
