As a journalist, I love to work with public records and data and get out on-foot in the community. In my free time, I'm usually surfing or out and about with my two dogs. I was a Report for America corps members from 2019 - 2021 in New Mexico as a multimedia reporter and podcast producer/host at the Santa Fe Reporter. At the Santa Fe Reporter, I covered Santa Fe’s Southside — its immigrant and indigenous communities, service industry workers, entrepreneurs and families — through stories that impact their lives. I also covered the business and culture outside of the city’s contemporary downtown core, especially taking into account women, people of color, historical context, access to health care and education. I started my career as a full-time staff journalist at Miami Today News covering the dynamic cities of Coral Gables and Miami Beach as well as international news that affected South Florida, including arts, culture, banking and finance. I have freelanced as a writer, photographer and videographer for numerous publications since college, including USA Today, the Tampa Bay Times, the St. Augustine Record, Happs News, Al-Jazeera Plus, Human Rights Campaign, the Florida Bulldog and Seminole Magazine, long before completing my Bachelor's in Journalism/Media Production. I received a grant while attending Flagler College to work with a partner covering malnutrition and poverty in a Mayan community on the shores of Lago de Atitlan in rural Guatemala. I am a previous grantee for the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. Tracey Eaton, a long-time investigative journalist and foreign correspondent, and I, traveled to Havana, Cuba in August 2018 to cover the housing crisis. We published multiple multimedia pieces. USA Today and the Tampa Bay Times were the first publications to take the story. I am bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. I graduated from Flagler College majoring in Journalism/Documentary Production and minoring in International Studies Magnua cum Laude.

I began making films while in college and have since grown a freelancing venture into a company that produces and directs video projects for universities, Fortune 500 companies, and numerous national and regional organizations. I bring a dynamic catalog of experiences into projects as I’ve performed almost all of the roles involved in a commercial grade video production. Though there are crew that I work with often, I’m comfortable working with almost any team and I’d be the first to say that we need to look at the concept and ask, "what is really going to allow us to make this the right way?" For over a decade I worked as a freelance cinematographer and producer for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, BBC and The History Channel. In that time, I climbed the ladder from production assistant, to coordinator, to associate producer, to assistant camera, and finally to producer and cinematographer. Having fulfilled all these titles, I am a well-rounded filmmaker. With an insatiable thirst for diverse cultures, exotic lands and exploration, I have honed my cinematography through travel and adventure. As co-founder of The Invisible Lens, a husband and wife production company, I filmed with NASA astrophysicist, George Gloeckler in a memoir highlighting the pioneers of space exploration and rise of the Voyager spacecrafts. With a keen interest in environmental conservation, I spent over a year and a half documenting a large carnivore camera trap survey in Ethiopia’s Bale Mountain National Park. I am one of the first and only filmmakers to capture the elusive Abyssinian lion on camera. Most recently, my short documentary about transboundary mining threatening the integrity of the waters between British Columbia and Southeast Alaska, "Voices of the Inside Passage", was selected to the Colorado Environmental Film Festival. I have a passion for filming and producing impactful stories.

I'm a Winston-Salem, NC based filmmaker. I grew up making movies with my twin brother and friends so telling stories and being behind a camera has always been important to me. I think I've always appreciated the collaboration that happens with visual storytelling and how it allows us to communicate things that are otherwise difficult to communicate. I started a video production company with my brother in 2012 and I produced primarily video content for real estate agents, brides and grooms, and businesses needing testimonials, safety videos, etc. I've realized I'm much more interested in finding stories to tell about individual people and that's what led me to StoryHunter.

After serving five years as a Mass Communication Specialist (I spent most of my time as a Photojournalist), I was honorably discharged and moved to Charlotte, N.C. to attend the Art Institute of Charlotte. Here is where I realized a real passion for Cinematography and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors of Arts in Digital Filmmaking and Video Production. Since then, I’ve been living in the jungle as a Freelancer and loving it. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1976 with a BA degree in psychology. I began my filmmaking career in 1977 after completing the Professional Filmmaker’s Workshop at NYU in the summer of 1977. It was the summer of Son of Sam and the big New York Blackout. It all made for a very memorable summer in my life. I returned to North Carolina and begin pursuing my career. Over the past 32 years I have had the pleasure and opportunity to act as Director of Photography on four regional Emmy winning documentaries and several others that received prestigious awards. I have traveled to and worked in 35 different states and over twenty countries on five continents. On a trip to Kenya I had the opportunity to photograph wild animals roaming about the Masai Mara National Reserve, while there to document the installation of a swinging bridge over a river to help the Masai villagers travel safely during rainy seasons. In India we visited and documented the Banjara Tribe, a nomadic tribe known for their colorful celebrations. I have also traveled to Zambia, South Africa, Jordan, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and Tibet where I have had the opportunity to photograph many indigenous peoples any many compelling stories of life in other cultures. In the last few years I have concentrated on long form documentaries that explore various people’s cultures and how those cultures are intertwined with society in general. Below is a complete list of feature length documentaries I have served on. The passion for my vocation has grown steadily throughout my career and remains with me to this day.
