This documentary follows the aboriginal process of making Mohua, an intoxicating tribal liquor made out of the Mohul flower, which is nutritious and delicious when taken as food as well. From daybreak till wee hour of night these unfortunate tribal folk of western part of India are spurred on this indigenous drink while living practically on a zero resource zone. Instead, they have defied mainstream media accounts portraying them as helpless victims, opening a café just minutes from the Taj Mahal that they use to raise awareness about acid attacks. The women who run the café, called Sheroes’ Hangout, consider themselves feminists and fighters, and apart from serving tea and coffee to tourists, they seek out new survivors to teach them how to heal and reclaim their lives. Sheroes documents the arrival of a new survivor to the café as she struggles to overcome her shame and embrace her inner and outer beauty. The film is about memories - a record of places, people and professions that once gone will never return, and of the mysterious beauty of the man-made ruins that mark the transition from the Calcutta of authentic tradition to the new one of "modernity".
