I'm Rachel and I'm obsessed with the creative process behind conveying a story visually. I graduated SF State for photojournalism, won a Hearst Certificate of Merit for a video I shot and edited in Istanbul (where I befriended a home-grown "terrorist" group and many other exciting things), worked at two jobs while shooting video/photo projects for my hometown newspaper until I got the job I have now for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I love this job because it throws me into situations I would not normally be in. The second video I ever shot was about abalone diving(never dived before) and I'm working on a mini-doc about a driving crew that drifts illegally, shutting down freeways to follow something they believe is their right in life. I'm easily enamored by my subjects. Good stories seriously make my life worth living. I can't imagine doing anything else.

For the past 10 years I've worked as a camera operator, editor and director. I have worked in broadcast news for 7 years in the Las Vegas area. While out here I created a digital documentary series on the high school basketball powerhouse Findlay Prep. My series helped make the small team based out of Henderson, NV into a global destination for some of the top basketball athletes in the world. Our series documented the early careers of NBA Champion Cory Joseph, Cleveland Cavalier Tristan Thompson and Boston Celtic Avery Bradley. After basketball, music is another love. I helped created the music documentary series Suite Sessions (www.suitesessions.com). Our music series went behind the scenes with artists while they toured Las Vegas.

I'm James, a shooting PD with a documentary and journalism background. In December 2022 I returned back from Cuzco, Lima, where I was working on a series of short-form documentaries for Reuters, reporting on the protests and military occupation in Peru. For two years I worked for Google / YouTube as a PD, creating content across the US and UK. I know the world of brand content very well and feel confident and enthusiastic about directing and producing within this genre. I run New Take Films, a short form documentary company that has just been shortlisted for Production Company of the Year. In December I returned from Pakistan where I was producing and directing a documentary entitled Section 298. The documentary focuses on the persecution of female minorities in remote regions of the country.
