The documentary also screened at the Portland Film Festival and the Twin Cities FIlm Festival. In 2018, Jon directed, produced and edited the award-winning feature documentary film, Uncommon Allies. Uncommon Allies is currently on Amazon Prime, Apple, TV, Roku TV and VUDU. Over the past several years, Jon collaborated with Oscar and Emmy award winning filmmakers on many independent projects.  He was a producer on the feature documentary film, Beyond Laughter and Tears, released in March of 2016 directed by Oscar award winner Doug Blush.  Jon's past experience includes working as a director, producer, DP and editor at Yahoo!.  Jon played a hands-on, key role in establishing Yahoo! as a forerunner in original online video productions.  This was Yahoo’s first step into original TV style series (webisodes) productions.  He directed, edited and produced 5 original webisode series while at Yahoo! focusing on topics such as travel, lifestyle, subcultures, music, news, and politics.  He's worked with TV hosts Bill Maher, Charlie Rose and Richard Bangs.  Jon's last project at Yahoo! was creating a video profile of the President of the United States in the White House Roosevelt Room.  It was the first time in history a sitting president conducted an interview solely for the internet.  This project was a tremendous success and received international attention and millions of video streams. In 1998, Jon was a video producer for the world’s first e-commerce website with broadcast film footage.  The company was acquired by Getty Film in 2000.  He has also produced, directed and edited several short films.

I was also the lead producer for other specialty shows, such as the Husker Football Recruiting Special and other Husker athletic related shows, and special series such as High School Rewind and Conversations. I have also produced a series called "The Good Life on Demand," which examines the must-see places and events across Nebraska. Before graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a broadcasting degree (August 2003), I started working at KOLN/KGIN-TV in Lincoln, NE in April 2002 as a part-time videographer. In December of that same year, I was promoted to a full-time videographer position. I covered stories ranging from elections, Husker sports, the Hallam Tornado, and Hurricane Katrina. I also set up/shot nightly live shots with our microwave truck. From Mar 2006-Dec '06 I worked as the assignment editor, coordinating reporters' stories and planning news coverage throughout the day and long-term. My wife and I started our own videography business, Five C Video, in 2006. We shoot and edit numerous types of video jobs, including corporate and business videos, sports videos, weddings, recitals, and other events. I am also available for freelance video work, including producing and directing broadcasts, running replay, and other camera operations, with my own or provided equipment.

If you are looking for a professional video editor, you have come to right place! But first, a little about my experience and qualifications: My interest in video production really began in college. I discovered early on that a little creativity combined with the right software is key to success in a technology driven world. This understanding enabled me to learn as much as I could about Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, Audition, and Dreamweaver. After four long years, I received my degree in multimedia with a minor in media production the at the University of Nebraska in Kearney in 2018. While I learned a lot during my time in college, most of my video editing experience came from working at KLKN-TV Channel 8 Eyewitness News, an ABC affiliate. Over the past year and a half, I edited more than one thousand shows. Not only did I learn rather quickly the importance of deadlines, I also discovered that finding the perfect balance between working independently and with a team was imperative to the success of the news station. Our team had to make sure that we were creating engaging content every day to keep our viewers interested. I chose to leave the news industry in order to fully open myself to other opportunities that required a little more creative freedom on my end. I believe my skills are easily transferable and my desire to work on projects that require a little more post-production work is unmatched. Growing up on a farm/ranch instilled a strong work ethic.
