About Cameron Z.

I am a documentary filmmaker and photographer with international and domestic experience. Most recently I was a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow in residence for ten months at the United Teen Equality Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, making a series of short documentaries about gang-involved youth working to transform their lives, and the youth workers dedicating their lives to ending violence. I have worked for a variety of organizations domestically and abroad, including a feature-length documentary shot in Liberia (in post-production). I am most interested in storytelling that challenges mainstream perceptions of underrepresented communities, and highlights the work of inspiring organizations and individuals. I also have interests in criminal justice, global health, environmental sustainability, food systems, and wildlife.

For more than 15 years I have worked with companies large and small to create visually compelling stories. Past and current clients include: Patagonia, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, PBS, Heifer International and many more. I am predominately a DP/Producer but also serve as production manager, gaffer, director and AD on many projects. In addition, I am part of a company that has full large scale production capabilities, including post production and graphics/animation. We produce content for all screens, online and TV, optimized for mobile, tablet, computer or television; scripted and unscripted. Our strongest asset is the ability to find and tell compelling stories leaving our clients with the results they demand.

I am a video producer with over 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism, local affiliate promotions, scriptwriting, local television commercial production, and long-form marketing and promotional digital media production. I began my career as a one-man band television reporter at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I am very comfortable directing a multi-person crew or working solo. Experience includes producing, directing, live event production, director of photography and audio tech. I am also a husband, dad, avid runner and outdoor enthusiast.
