Souvid Datta is an emerging director, screenwriter, and photographer. Spanning both documentary and narrative worlds, his award-winning work explores humanism and systems of power. Born in Mumbai and raised in London, his pursuit of impact storytelling has earned recognitions such as IMDb New Filmmaker of the Year, a Cannes Young Director Award nomination, landed him an Adobe Creative Residency award, a place on the Bafta x BFI Crew list, the Vogue India 20 Under 26 list and Best Documentary at Cannes Short Film Festival. Human stories are the heart of Souvid’s work, investigating issues like social justice, human rights, the environment and culture and taking him to over 60 countries. From the frontlines of the Syrian refugee crisis, to the bustling metropolises of East Africa, in the shadow of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, to environmental hotspots across China and South Asia, Souvid has produced multimedia reports, films and commercials for clients including Google, National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, Universal Music Group, BBC Studios, TIME and The Guardian. As a photographer, he’s shot editorials and reportage features all over the world, from Kenya to Kathmandu, with exhibitions in London’s Saatchi Gallery, the Houses of Parliament, the Indian Alliance Congress, Royal Geographic Society & Bibliotheque National de France. He’s the writer of four short films, and his latest drama, Moonlight Dreams has been selected in several Oscar and Bafta-qualifying festivals, premiering in the UK at Raindance 2020 and launching online on Nowness and Omeleto. Earlier in 2020, he began writing his first narrative series, F*ckbois, a 6 episode 30min comedy-drama exploring masculinity and mental health. In factual, his next documentary feature project, Swimming for Survival, is currently in development with BFI and Creative England support at Singer Films, and previewed at Sundance London 2020. He also works often as a self-shooting producer/director for broadcast, including for Lost Musicians of India, a 6-part documentary series for Channel 4 (2017), and second-unit director for BBC4's Rhythms of India (2019). In 2021 he began directing a 6-part extended music video series co-commissioned by WeTransfer, The British Museum, The Royal Albert Hall, Arts Council England and the SDA Charity. Souvid’s aim is to continue creating cinematic stories that foster empathy and challenge minds. 

About Sarah B.

A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and member of the World Explorer’s Bureau, Sarah Begum is an Immersive Investigative Journalist and an Anthropologist-Explorer. In 2010, Sarah travelled deep into the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest, where she lived with the Huaorani tribe and immersed in their way of life, hunting with warriors, gathering with women whilst investigating into the impacts of oil exploitation on their land. On this expedition, Sarah was made Queen and married to a warrior to create an alliance and send their message about protecting their land through her film. Sarah has survived in some of the most dangerous cities in the world – Caracas, Venezuela, where was presenting international current affairs for an English TV channel and witnessed the unusual situations across the country. Sarah has also investigated the mafia in Sicily, football hooligan gangs in Krakow and continues to seek out authentic stories across the globe through her immersive style.

Katie Arnold is an award-winning producer/director who has made documentaries for many of the top broadcasters, including Channel 4 Dispatches, Channel 4 Unreported World, PBS Frontline, BBC Our World and Al Jazeera 101 East. Katie holds an up-to-date HEFAT certificate and has experience filming in challenging environments, including northern Syria and southern Iraq. She is a highly experienced journalist, having been trained in investigative journalism through a prestigious Channel 4 scheme. She has strong storytelling and casting skills, and is adept at gaining the trust of contributors in politically sensitive situations. Katie is a self-shooter, and comes with her own kit including Sony FS5 mk II, 3 x Canon and Sigma lenses, Mavic Drone, Go Pros. She is confident working independently and as a member of a team.

Hello, I am an Australian cinematographer, based in London UK. I have worked in the film industry well over a decade now, starting as a camera technician (when we shot on film!). I have been shooting films, documentaries, drama and advertising for several years now. My recent work was on UK TV drama "Homework" as DOP for series 6&7, for the Krill campaign for the SumofUs action group as well as loads of advertising as part of Almond Tree Productions. I began in art department and enjoy shooting in an intimate way where the camera is guest in a scene - especially in my documentary work. I pride myself on getting my subjects to relax and forget the camera is there allowing the viewer to connect with the interviewee. I am a lighting DOP for drama work -yet my style is either surreal or as natural as can be. I love my work and will shoot from dawn to dusk if allowed.

In December 2022 I returned back from Cuzco, Lima, where I was working on a series of short-form documentaries for Reuters, reporting on the protests and military occupation in Peru. For two years I worked for Google / YouTube as a PD, creating content across the US and UK. I know the world of brand content very well and feel confident and enthusiastic about directing and producing within this genre. I run New Take Films, a short form documentary company that has just been shortlisted for Production Company of the Year. In December I returned from Pakistan where I was producing and directing a documentary entitled Section 298.
