Jordan Gass-Pooré is a senior English and mass communication double major at Texas State University. The moment she laid hands on a newspaper and her fingers were stained with black ink that she could smear on her older cousin’s white clothes, she was hooked. Since then, Jordan has been on a mighty crusade to prove that the pen is mightier than the sword, sharpening her writing skills through internships with the Los Angeles News Group, Austin American-Statesman and San Antonio Express-News, among others, and working with high school students as an English tutor and mentor. Jordan lived in Canterbury, England, for six months in 2010 and looks forward to returning, hopefully as a reporter with The Guardian in London.

Pallavi Somusetty is a documentary filmmaker and video journalist and an alum of UC Berkeley J-School's documentary program. She works as a videographer and editor filming important stories for media outlets and clients. Her recent documentary, Escaping Agra (escapingagra.com), is screening in film festivals across North America. In the last fourteen years Pallavi's career has seen her reporting for a community newspaper in Silicon Valley, videotaping product users at a New York City ad agency, producing short-form educational documentaries, and traveling internationally to film challenging stories, most recently in India and Belize. In her spare time she fills up her phone with photos of her kid.

My name is Ashlyn Tubbs and I am a video journalist who works in the South Plains of Texas. While I have seven years of background in writing, photography and videography for two different newspapers, my true passion came about when I began to write, shoot, edit and present my own stories for broadcast at KCBD NewsChannel 11. My favorite stories are more in-depth special assignments to attract viewers during our ratings period, and that is why I am pursuing mainly documentary style storytelling.
