I have experience producing documentary films, writing feature articles, and packaging radio & TV pieces. I'm an American based in Bogotá, Colombia, with experience working in English, Spanish and French. In 2015, following dreams of being a full-time storyteller, I moved to India to co-direct a documentary about an orphanage outside the city of Hyderabad. Most recently, I served as the managing editor at Innovations | Stories, an online publication sharing the stories of social innovators all over the Global South. While at Innovations | Stories I designed and spearheaded a multimedia editorial strategy which allowed for more diverse content (a heavier focus on photo and video stories). As managing editor I supported video and photo freelance contributors from all over the world and designed storytelling trainings for social innovators to tell their own stories. I'm originally from Berkeley, California, USA and I earned my B.S. from the University of California, Davis in Community and Regional Development with a minor in Art Studio (focusing on video and photography). From 2010-2015 I directed a global education program called One World Youth Project (OWYP), based in Washington, DC. At OWYP I designed middle school (age 10-14) curriculum and trained university students to teach it around the world in their own communities. The program taught the children cross-cultural communication by empowering them to create and send video, photo, and written messages to their partner classroom abroad - all facilitated by trained university student volunteers. While serving as program director at OWYP I had the privilege of traveling around the world visiting schools and delivering trainings at universities. My work in education and the opportunity to see so much of the world made me realize I wanted to tell stories. Storytelling is the best form of education anyway.

As photographer and videographer I have worked since 2012 for several NGOs like Peace Boat, Retrak.org, WWF Colombia, Unicef Cambodia, etc, and also some corporate events and tour companies in around the world, where I have had the opportunity to travel to some remote locations in order to plan the shooting, develop the scripts on the ground, shoot with a variety of hight quality gear, edit and deliver the final products for several purposes such as promotional tools, crowdfunding, social causes and documentaries. Tom Laffay is a visual journalist, DP and director specializing in working on long term projects in Latin America bringing a cinematic look with journalistic rigor. Currently based in Colombia, he has been dedicated to covering the ongoing violence against human rights defenders over the course of the country's troubled peace process since 2016 and frequently shoots for media like ARD Germany, El Espectador and contributes to The Atlantic and The Guardian. Tom is bilingual (English / Spanish) and travels extensively producing short documentary films for New Media Advocacy Project and IUCN in South America, Africa and the US and since 2011 he has worked with La Isla Network to advance improvements in the agricultural labor sector in Central America. I am a multimedia journalist covering human rights and socio-political issues, based between Latin America and Southeast Asia. I have reported on sexual violence, internal forced displacement, kidnapping, the reintegration of ex-militants from illegal armed groups into society, and the impact of drug policies on the livelihoods of coca farmers. I have also documented Cambodia’s post conflict rapid development and its impact on the Cambodian population including land grabs, civil unrest and the recession of natural resources. Multimedia journalist, Laura Gamba was born and raised in Colombia. She graduated from law school, but decided early on she wanted to pursue a career in journalism. She started writing for a Colombian digital magazine and as the editor-in-chief of AlDerecho, the Law School newspaper. She earned her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, where she discovered a passion for radio. Laura reported, recorded and produced audio stories about the organ market in New York, drone regulations and the Zika virus, among others. She has worked for the Nuevo Herald in Miami and Los Informantes, an award winning Colombian TV journalistic program, yet she’s never forgotten her love for radio. Laura is currently working on her own podcast.
