I’m a multimedia journalist and editor passionate about combining text with photography and videography to tell stories from a unique perspective. My work has been featured by The Economist, Foreign Policy, Quartz, VICE and many others. I started working as a photographer on conflict and human rights issues while interning and copy editing at a small newspaper in Sana’a, Yemen in 2012. From there, I began working as a freelancer, first in Tunisia, then in Cairo, covering the aftermath of the Arab Spring. I’m currently based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, working on a series of long-term reporting projects in rural Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

About Ben P.

Photographer and documentarian Ben Powell’s assignments as a cinematographer have taken him to communities around the world, while his documentary films as a director have focused on landscapes near and dear. His adopted home state of Texas and the obsessive characters (and celebrities) that collect its historical treasures play a central role in “Phil Collins and the Wild Frontier,” which premiered at the 2013 New Orleans Film Festival. His first feature documentary, BARGE, focuses on the culture of towboat workers not far from his home town of Cleveland, Mississippi and premiered at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, going on to win Best Documentary Feature prizes at Indie Memphis and the Dallas International Film Festival. Powell has received received artist grants from the Austin Film Society and the Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant, and holds a BFA in Film, Animation, and Video from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Hamada Elrasam (b. 1987 inEgypt) is a Cairo-based freelance documentary photographer, photojournalist,and videographer who covers humanitarian stories with a critical and creative eye. From the painful legacies of the Egyptian revolution and the Rwandan genocide, to the frontline of Europe’s migration crisis on the Greek island of Lesvos, he has dedicated his practice to the advancement of social justice and human rights. Over the last eight years, Hamada’s work has been published by the AssociatedPress, Voice of America, GlobalPost, Agence France-Presse, Al-MasryAl-Youm, Los Angeles Review of Books, Le Monde diplomatique, ABC News, Mada Masr, Jacobin, Al-Monitor, Truthout, among others. His image of a protest clash in Cairo won the Egyptian Photojournalist Society’s 2012 Egypt PressPhoto Award. In 2015, the Associated Press published his project “Traces of the Conflict,” which he produced as part of the first cycle of the Arab Documentary Photography Program.

Andrea Morales is a documentary photographer and journalist born in Lima, Peru and rooted in Miami, Florida. While earning a B.S. in journalism at the University of Florida and an M.A. in visual communication at Ohio University, she worked as a photojournalist at newsrooms like the New York Times, The Concord (N.H) Monitor, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Lima News. Adding glimpses of daily life to the record is central to how she makes work. She is a producer at the Southern Documentary Project at the University of Mississippi, an institute of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, where she is also currently pursuing an M.F.A. in documentary expression.

Lucy Garrett is a British photographer (b.1991) currently based in Memphis, TN, with an interest in stories relating to inequality, human rights, and environmental issues. Initially beginning a degree in Documentary Photography at the University of South Wales, Newport in 2011, Lucy has been a freelance photographer for the past 10 years, working on lifestyle and commercial projects. Alongside this, Lucy has been photographing personal work and portrait commissions. Lucy is passionate about people and humanitarian issues, and loves to work with NGOs and Charities to create content to showcase their vision and increase their engagement. Lucy is self-represented and takes clients on a limited basis.
