Dans le cadre de la Journée internationale des personnes handicapées qui a lieu chaque année le 3 décembre 2021, l’Office des Nations Unies contre la Drogue et le Crime (ONUDC) et l’association Handicap.sn ont organisé une formation en photographie et arts plastiques pour sensibiliser le public sur les questions de traite des personnes et handicap du 22 au 30 novembre. L’objectif de cette formation est de permettre aux artistes vivant avec un handicap de donner à voir les formes de traite subies par des personnes en situation de handicap au Sénégal grâce à l’art. Les participants ont été formés à la création artistique sur des sujets sensibles relatifs aux droits humains, comme la traite, en mêlant des techniques mixtes de photographie et d’arts plastiques, notamment par la photojournaliste Marta Moreiras, aussi à l’œuvre lors de la première formation en collaboration avec l’Agence Espagnole de Coopération Internationale pour le Développement (AECID) et Handicap.sn. Durant la formation, l’accent a été mis sur l’importance pour les artistes de trouver un équilibre entre, d’une part, la nécessité de dénoncer les formes de traite subies et, d’autre part, la responsabilité de protéger l’identité des victimes avec lesquelles ils travaillent, en employant des techniques artistiques permettant de les occulter.
