We were commissioned by Procter & Gamble to show how Always sanitary pads are changing the lives of young girls in Kenya. With access to affordable feminine health products, girls are able to stay in school longer. We mobilized a crew in Nairobi in less than 24 hours. Working in both English and Swahili, we produced and directed both video and stills. The CNN Heroes series profiled Minneapolis’ Vednita Carter, who has helped more than 6,000 victims of sex trafficking. Once a former sex worker herself, Vednita has built an army of survivors who have joined her crusade to end sex trafficking. Taking an empathetic approach to a difficult subject, we worked to make the women comfortable on camera while also protecting their identities. The USAA, a leading financial and insurance provider for the military community, wanted to show their dedication to military families. Working with VSA Partners in Chicago, Intersect profiled Gene Kranz, former NASA flight control director for Apollo 13. We shot in Houston and worked closely with NASA to get access to locations and archival footage. Boniface Mwangi is an activist turned politician. He that he didn't have the funding to do it on his own so he turned to crowdfunding -- and is successfully getting his message out, 10 shillings at a time. See Kenya from an insiders point of view as aKoma tours you down one of Nairobi's most famous streets and home to the city's street market, First Avenue Meet Abdul Ramadahn. He's been working as a "Soundman" for over 30 years and has filmed Africa's cries of war, voices of reason and cheers of freedom. Some 10,000 refugees and migrants remain camped out at an informal site at Greece's northern border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The makeshift home is also home to an estimated 4,000 children, the majority of whom are under the age of five. Doctors warn conditions in the camp are becoming dangerous for children. From her small house in Idomeni, Greek grandmother Panagiota Vasileiadou, 82, saw first-hand the bare need of refugees desperate for food to feed their children or clean water to shower and wash their clothes. We were tasked with locally organizing and shooting interviews and b-roll for the Safaricom Maisha Ni Digital ('Life is Digital') campaign in partnership with Google.
