Joseph Hudson started work at the age of 12 in the engineering workshops of Birmingham. He trained for 7 years as a toolmaker learning to do by hand the many tasks so often undertaken by a machine today. In these early times he learned the skills that made him a superb craftsman in metal, later forming J Hudson & Co Whistles Ltd., which would become ACME Whistles. Chris Conley’s favorite trail near his home in Owensboro, Kentucky, starts in a parking lot. When he pulls up, he tucks four green toy soldiers into his pockets and carries them until he reaches almost exactly 4 miles. There, he finds a tree split at the base, surrounded by Honor and Remember flags and already filled with dozens of plastic troops. He takes the four he has carried and places them among the others within the makeshift Fallen Heroes Memorial. Directed, shot, and edited this short branded documentary for BioLite Energy. Shot all the video for this short film on the Ghetto Classics orchestra in Nairobi's Korogocho slum. A collection of my best footage from the past year. While it is widely known that Ecuador is the largest rose exporter in the world, it is less known that they export massive quantities of tinted (rainbow, etc) and glittered roses to China. The story addresses the ever-growing Chinese market and how Ecuador is adapting one of its largest industries to this. During the Holocaust, Jacqueline Kimmelstiel had one lipstick. She was a teenager at the time, and the small bit of makeup made her feel beautiful. Now at 91, Jackie gets her hair done every two weeks at the Riverwalk Salon, part of her independent living community in the Bronx, NY. For Jacqueline and other residents, the in-house salon is a place for socialization and self care.
