About Rachel V.

Rachel is a Brazilian documentary filmmaker, content producer and translator with vast experience in the American media market. She is the owner of MOXYDOX, a small production company based in São Paulo, and works primarily as a Director, Producer and Editor. In 2019, she was an AD, researcher, script collaborator and grant writer on the doc feature "My Darling Supermarket", premiered at IDFA (Netherlands) and at MOMA's Doc Fortnight (USA). Prior to that, she received a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelors degree in Film from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She is a former associate producer at Storyhunter Headquarters in Brooklyn, and her work has been published by Al Jazeera, Fusion, Bloomberg and Nationswell. While in New York City she also worked in network television productions for the Discovery Channel, PBS, Lifetime, MTV and the Animal Planet – among a few independent features screened at Slamdance and Tribecca. In São Paulo she helps develop documentaries on contemporary art and education, branded content and institutional videos for Brazilian television networks, non-profit organizations and global companies, such as Global Communities, The Nature Conservancy, Videobrasil, Instituto Natura, Miracle Feet and Iron Mountain, among others.

About Alba M.

Before moving to Buenos Aires to freelance, Alba was the Latin America Interactive Producer for the Associated Press (2012 to 2015) and an professor in digital storytelling at the University Centro for Design, Cinema and Television in Mexico City. Born in Girona, Spain, she has worked as a videographer and documentary director for TV and digital. She has directed, produced and filmed documentaries in India, Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Cameroon. She received the prestigious La Caixa scholarship to study an MA at Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley. After that, she worked as an Associate Producer at Mediastorm multimedia studio in Brooklyn, NYC. In 2009, she received a grant from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation to work for the Werner Herzog's documentaries production house and continued to produce programs for National Geographic and Discovery Channel. She is currently freelancing in Buenos Aires.

About André B.

Documentary filmmaker, editor, researcher, screenwriter, sound recordist. Born in Natal in 1983 and raised in Bahia, I came to São Paulo in 2001 to study Audiovisual Production. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from the University of São Paulo and have worked as an assistant director, sound recordist and editor over the last few years. My experiences with the Cinemateca Brasileira’s movie collection and my taste for research have boosted one of my passions: archived images and projects that speak to memory and history. Since 2012, I have worked mainly as a director for documentary projects, both made for TV and corporate, as well as an editor for several other projects, including fiction. I directed four shorts, two of them aired in ESPN Brazil: "The Amazing Stories of a Ghost Ship" (doc, 26', 2015) and "Following the Line: the History of Ricardo Prado" (doc, 26', 2016). The films were screened in Brazil, Canada, Chile, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Sweden, in festivals such as It's All True, Hot Docs, FICVIÑA and FESTIn Lisboa. I also directed the third season of a television series entitled "O Papel da Vida" ("The Role of a Lifetime"), which was aired in 2014 in the television channel Canal Brasil. And "Families", a documentary TV series screened at the Brazilian Public Television Network, including TV Cultura and Futura. It won the Prix Jeunesse Iberoamericano - 11 to 15 years, non-fiction. "I'm Still Alive" is his first documentary feature. Released at the 25th CinePE in November 2021, it won the Best Director Award, Best Editor Award, Distribution Award and Special Mention. I'm starting to produce a new television series for the Brazilian TV channel Arte1 and my second documentary feature.

She graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in Biology and in Latin American Studies. Her first foray into film brought her to black tarp camps of the MST, a communist agrarian reform movement in Brazil. She has since produced for Norwegian reality TV, commercials, and short documentaries as well as for the Oscar nominated documentary film, Wasteland. She is working on her first feature documentary about a peninsula in southeastern Rio state.

Santiago Barreiro is a National Geographic Explorer, photographer, and storyteller. His approach mainly focuses on the study of dance, humanitarian topics, gender, and minorities. As a result of his interest in dance, Barreiro, who is originally from Uruguay, has photographed ballerinas at Uruguay’s national ballet company, Ballet Nacional Sodre, as well as Cuba’s National Ballet School, one of the premier ballet institutes in the world.
