The social project we were trying to capture was called Aluno Presente (https://www.alunopresente.org.br/) and its goal was to make education accessible to kids living under favelas’ “war zones”, torn by gang violence, where mobility was compromised. Three men united by blood and art. The photographer Christian Cravo travels through Africa while mourning for his father, Cravo Neto, icon of Brazilian photography, and facing disagreements with his grandfather, Cravo Junior, icon of modernist sculpture. The world produces about 2.5 million tons of electronic waste per year. Although African countries are responsible for the least amount of it, they are the ones where e-waste from all over the world is exported to and dumped. To recycle some of it and to raise awareness about the waste problem, Ivorian painter Mounou Desire koffi makes bold art using old cell phones.
