I am a freelance journalist/photographer/filmmaker interested in under-reported regions and untold stories. I mainly focus on political, social and cultural issues. A lot of the stories are related to human rights and conflict, but not all of them. Having worked in hostile environments such as Syria and Iraq, I am well aware of the difficulties and challenges. Features and documentaries are my preferred genres.I hold an international Masters in Journalism with a specialism in War and Conflict Reporting. The MA was a joint program offered by Aarhus University, the University of Amsterdam and Swansea University. I am moving around quite a bit. My colleague, Gayatri Parameswaran and I are journalists and co-founders at NowHere Media – a young, Berlin-based production house. In the past five years we have produced many stories for Al Jazeera English, DW, ZDF etc. At NowHere Media we have begun working with VR and 360 journalism. Until recently, I was an Associate Producer for Magnet Media Films where I had a opportunity to create videos for brands such as Adobe, Cisco, Google, Chase , Spike TV etc. In 2017, I produced and co-edited a virtual reality short film about human trafficking called In the Shadows which premiered in January at VR Fest 2018 in Las Vegas. I love the challenge of bringing an idea or concept to life, considering not only the creative possibilities of a script but also the logistical realities and crafting a harmony between the two in order to achieve an optimal outcome that all those involved can be proud of.
