Partner at FLUID. I love telling stories and have been making feature films, documentaries, and branded content for over 15 years. I value simplicity in form, honest storytelling, and a focus on the human angle. Originally from Lima, Peru, I received my MFA in Film Directing from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where my thesis film won the Student Academy Award. Since then, I have written and directed two feature films (The Story of Luke, 2013, and FIXED, 2018), directed, shot, and edited a handful of documentaries, and made scores of branded videos for corporate, non-profit, and agency clients. Depending on the project, I can work with a full crew or as a one-man band. I have recently relocated to Copenhagen where I hope to keep working with amazing people and telling their stories.

Laurence is a freelance multimedia journalist, producer and engagement consultant based in Berlin. He has worked on a wide variety of stories and media projects including; managing a team of over 30 journalists covering the Nigerian national elections; the creation of “Dementia Diaries” – a national series of audio diaries documenting the day-to-day lives of people living with dementia; and award-winning coverage of the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone. Laurence specialises in creating more inclusive and ethical media environments. Laurence’s stories and contributions have featured online (the Guardian, Le Parisien, the Mirror) in print (New Internationalist, Der Spiegel), on the radio (CBC, BBC World Service) and on television (BBC World News TV & Channel 4 News). Laurence holds an MA in Global Digital Cultures and International Development from SOAS, University of London.

I would describe myself as an unpolished gem yet to find my ring to fit into. I recently graduated from film school and have been freelancing, since June, straight off the boat. Having worked on a wide variety of projects, from music groups such as Grissini Project to creating promotional short films for the Swedish military, and everything in between I have raked in enough experience and wisdom to consider myself a Jack of All Trades. I truly burn for this industry and made a promise to myself when I got accepted into film school, that I would never work with anything outside of this field and would do whatever it takes to carve out a space for myself.

Katja Kuivanen is a self-shooting producer, director and editor of non-fiction audiovisual content. She has an academic background in the social sciences, and transitioned to documentary storytelling on the back of a career in the international development- and humanitarian aid space. Katja recently co-directed two films in collaboration with award-winning OTOXO Productions in Barcelona, and has managed shoots, written copy and produced engaging short-form content used by organisations on social platforms and in media. She has a strong understanding of story and its importance from initial concept through to post-production, and an ability to connect with subjects whilst working hard to deliver high-value productions within tight deadlines, in challenging environments.
