    About Luis T.

I am a journalist and documentary filmmaker based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My interest lies in telling off beat stories, with extraordinary characters in ordinary circumstances. From the intensely personal to the acutely social, I am always searching for narrative possibilities in unlikely places. Arts and letters, Latin American culture in particular, is a huge concern. Identity and heritage are important to me. In fact, I cant think of a more exciting subject than what it means to be Latino in the United States in the 21st Century United States, or the changing self-awareness and contradictions of Latin America. In the past, I have had the opportunity of travelling and shooting in Mexico, New York City, South Florida, South Texas and Los Angeles while covering sucsuch hot-button issues as illegal immigration and the public health challenges posed by outbreaks like the swine flu. I divide my time between writing and producing videos, and am always on the lookout to find a creative community that is open to collaboration.

Storytelling, whether real or imagined, is an art form as well as a craft. I'm an award-winning screenwriter, film director, journalist, and architect, but when people ask me what I do, I tell them I'm a storyteller. I have been working alongside, and increasingly, leading creative teams in the development and production of award-winning film, journalism and architecture projects for over 11 years. Most recently I was named a Finalist in the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Screenplay Competition for my short film, Rich Like Julio Lobo. I have worked with major global news organizations like Gizmodo, Global Citizen, Univision, VOA ( Voice of America), Circa News, and Al Jazeera to provide groundbreaking news coverage of the devastation caused by Hurricane María on the island of Puerto Rico. My academic background includes Master’s level studies in Architecture at Washington University of St. Louis, one of the top 10 programs in the nation, and Bachelor studies in History at Tufts University in Boston. I also studied film at the New York Film Academy and the Academie de Paris, and architecture at The Helsinki Institute of Technology. How can I help you tell your story?

    About Rolando M.

I currently work as a director and independent editor for the advertising and film industry in Puerto Rico. My work as an artist seeks to transmit human stories from a sociological perspective, where the most basic needs, prejudices, cultural phenomena, social castes and my own everyday experiences are reflected. Recent projects include several short documentaries for the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts on the history and impact of its cultural programming around the island. In the past months I was also selected to participate in a workshop on the Meisner method for directing actors, which took place at the International Film and TV School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. Additionally, I had the personal advice of a professional scriptwriter while working on the script of my next short film "Dónde está Catalina". This story is based on my first feature film−currently in development−titled "La Fuga". My creative practice is tied to the reality of the country where I live; its idiosyncrasies, colonial nuances, the relationship with the Caribbean and the individual search for redemption. In short, my purpose is to showcase a social portrait of Puerto Rico and contribute to culture through film art.
