One country's dying - story about massive migration from Bosnia to Western Europe Award winner: Outstanding Documentary Production at BroadcastPro Middle East Awards, Dubai 2017 An exclusive report on the Syrian city of Jarablus, which is rebuilding itself a year after the city was liberated from Daesh On our first episode Semir Sejfovic goes to Mostar in #Bosnia and Herzegovina to investigate whether the Dayton Agreement, which ended the Bosnian war 25 years ago, has really brought peace. Plus we interview former Prime Minister and Bosniak president Haris Silajdzic, who argues for an end to the country’s ethnic-based political system. And Andrew Hopkins explores Tito’s legacy in Serbia through Belgrade’s communist-era architecture. Across The Balkans is TRT World’s new programme, hosted by Nafisa Latic, that explores the issues and fault lines shaping Southeast Europe today. Hundreds who fled Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover are trying to seek asylum in the EU. Many are stuck on the Bosnian side of the border. According to the Danish Refugee Council, Croatian police are allegedly robbing and pushing back dozens of them. The Croatian government has denied the allegations, saying they are working with the EU to prevent another migrant crisis. Semir Sejfovic reports from both sides of the border. Balkan Walls - a story about young people divided by wars and bad policies. How young people live in Mitrovica and Sarajevo twenty years after the wars that were fought when they were children, and some of them were not even born. That is why the bridge in Mitrovica does not connect them, but is a symbol of division, but also of the impotence of politics, and how they see the entity line of demarcation that divides Sarajevo and East Sarajevo. Several hundred refugees and migrants were housed in the Vučjak camp near Bihać. They lived without basic living conditions. There was an emotional reunion in Sarajevo when German photographer Bjorn Steinz decided to track down Elvis -- whom he last saw as a 6-year-old boy during the 1990s Bosnian war. Elena is a transgender person and lives in Sarajevo. Awaiting gender reassignment surgery. The transition for her, as well as for other transgender people, was neither easy nor cheap. The worst thing, she says, is that she lost many friends after the decision to change her gender. In month’s edition of TV Justice, which is dedicated to crimes committed in Prijedor, you can hear stories by four survivors of dreadful executions. They ask themselves if one is really lucky if they manage to flee, hide and watch their closest family members die. Nermin Karagic survived abuse and executions. He was only 17 years old at the time. He joined our crew and, for the first time in the last 20+ years he visited locations where some of his family members and friends got killed. The September issue of TV Justice Magazine brings an overview of verdicts for Prijedor crimes pronounced by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at the Hague and Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina so far.

About Larisa J.
Larisa Jasarevic is an anthropologist. Her current research project concerns the ways in which bees and beekeepers in Bosnia weather the changing climate. She is especially interested in the meaning of bees in the Bosnian Muslim culture as well as in deep, ecological insights of Islamic eschatology--the teachings about death and planetary doom. Her research findings are the subject of a book manuscript entitled Beekeeping in the End Times (IUP 2023) and of a documentary film by the same title (currently in post-production). Her previous book, entitled Health and Wealth in the Bosnian Market: Intimate Debt, described close intersections between bodily experience and post-war economy. Larisa taught at the University of Chicago. She is a 2022 Fellow with the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) and a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
