Jekaterina Saveljeva was born in Narva, Estonia, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and was based in Ireland for over 10 years. Jekaterina began her career in Ireland working with local newspapers. In 2012 she was doing freelance work for the New York Times. In the same year, she was awarded the Simon Cumbers Media Fund to work on a story in Tanzania.
