Over the last 18 years, I have worked in almost every field of film, TV and video production and television journalism, and have spent the last nine years managing my own news and media production company. I have an excellent knowledge of the industry, as well as a proven track record of running a company and managing staff, projects and budgets. I have lived and worked in many different countries, all over the world, producing anything from news and feature stories, to sport, to branded content and everything in between. My experience overseas has given me a truly unique perspective on global current affairs and has fostered a deep interest in exploring every story I come across from as many different perspectives as I can see. I also have experience of working in conflict zones, covering major riots in China in 2008 and 2009, and I was in Libya for one month, during the fall of Tripoli, working for APTN. I have also covered several natural disasters, including the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake and flooding in Southern China. As well as possessing exceptional writing skills, my work in TV and new media, has given me a unique skill set, enabling me to get a message out to the widest possible audience, in the most engaging way and often to a tight budget. Working as a video journalist/producer, I have acquired further skills as a story-teller. I am an excellent lighting cameraman and video editor, filming on a wide range of cameras and formats and able to script and edit to tight deadlines. I am also a skilled Steadicam operator, with my own rig, suitable for most requirements. Post-production-wise, I consider myself an expert in the use of Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, Lightroom and After Effects, as well as several other programs in the Creative Suite. I also regularly edit with Final Cut Pro, Avid and Davinci Resolve. About Sebastian R.

Sebastian is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Brooklyn, NY. His curiosity about the world and the systems and structures that shape us draws him to well-told stories in both fiction and non-fiction. His short documentary film Esquilas en la montaña (Bells in the Mountains) was officially selected for the 2017 New Orleans Film Festival and the 2017 San Francisco Documentary Festival. His cinematography work has been screened at the Margaret Mead Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival. Over the last few years Sebastian has helped shoot an experimental non-fiction film in the -35°F winter of interior Alaska, produced videos for the Show Me $15 fight to raise the wages of fast food workers, directed and shot a film for the Southern Environmental Law Center, DP’d a short doc about wetland restoration in Louisiana, filmed on the road with country singer Dierks Bentley, documented oral histories of Afro-descendant Panamanian millennials, and produced, directed, and shot a film for Metro Nashville Public Schools about the experiences of LGBT teachers and students to be used in LGBT trainings for teachers and counselors. Sebastian has also interned for Barbara Kopple and spent three years as a free-lance production assistant on Ken Burns' upcoming Country Music series, assisting with interview shoots and filming behind-the-scenes material. Sebastian grew up in Concord, Massachusetts, and graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a BA in Film Studies and Anthropology. During his six years in Nashville, Sebastian grew to love the South, where he first became involved with social justice activism. This commitment continues to drive both his photography and his career choices.

I am a photojournalist and DP/Director based in New York City. While finishing my degree in Economic Policy at NYU, I undertook an internship with Pulitzer-Prize winning photographer/director Vincent Laforet, and have been working for a range of clients ever since. I spend most of my days shooting freelance assignments for The New York Times, but I've also been sent on assignment for The New York Times Magazine and Newsweek, among others. My video work focuses on creating short films and branded content for a range of clients, from local charities and non-profits like City Harvest and The Visiting Nurse Service of New York, to more national brands like Samsung. I am also a proud teacher/volunteer at NYC SALT, a non-profit photography program serving inner city teenagers in New York City.
