This documentary in the "Speaking Frankly" series explores whether the Electoral College helps or hurts American democracy. Thrillist's Best Chef of 2018, Reem Assil, isn't just the owner and chef of two amazing Bay Area restaurants (Reem's and Dyafa). She's also a major activist and advocate for workers' rights. I was contracted to interview and film this spot for Thrillist. The Blum Center commissioned me to edit their About US video to increase engagement about its global development and innovations programs. Using a mix of interview footage, b-roll from campus, news clips, and user-generated timelapses I completed the edit in two days. Salvador Gallardo Castro repurposes scrap auto parts to create furniture and art in Tepito, one of Mexico City's oldest and toughest neighborhoods. He taught himself to disassemble discarded iron from cars and trucks and uses the pieces to design furniture. Da Strada is a classical music group that performs on the streets of Mexico City. They—and other musicians—are often targeted as troublemakers and harassed by a police force that consistently overlooks the crimes of corrupt politicians and gangsters. Rob Gibson uses 150-year-old equipment and processes to create authentic tin-type photographs. Each exposure is a delicate balance of time, chemistry, and light. You can see his work at civilwarphotography.com/ Worked as producer, researcher, cameraman on this full length production that has had a theatrical release. Jan 19, 2010 a coalition of groups under the banner "Bail Out the People" took to the streets to express their anger over the TARP bailouts and Wall Street bonuses. About 75 people stood one block down from the New York Stock Exchange listening to speakers on many subjects from the bank bail out and student Metrocards to teachers unions and Haiti. I shot and edited this video for Chevron South Africa.

About Randall T.
I consider myself a proven professional with more than 28 years experience in the broadcasting industry organizing, shooting and completing international and domestic video EFP and ENG projects used for immediate broadcast, public relations, fund raising, and motivational purposes. I've created, directed, edited, shot and lit dramas, documentaries, news features and human interest video productions for a variety of clients in over 20 countries. I've operated state of the art video and audio production equipment, and managed tight production schedules under severe time restraints when working with contributors, celebrities, religious and government leaders. My passion for photography began as a young man in Arizona where I learned to see, compose, experiment, edit, and refine my craft. Videography became a natural extension of photography, both being a way of seeing and understanding the world around me. What can I say: I love to shoot video and take photos.
