About Pete K.

Pete Kiehart is a visual journalist based in Washington, DC. His interests include a diverse array of topics - he’s covered the war in Donbas and Europe’s refugee crisis, as well as the Tour de France and the African Nations Championship. Previously, he worked for The San Francisco Chronicle, where he was a visuals editor and photographer. In addition to working regularly as a photojournalist and portrait photographer, Pete also has experience with videography and video production, as well as writing and designing. Before becoming a freelancer, he worked at Reportage by Getty Images, CNN and The Columbus Dispatch. 
Pete maintains a close relationship with The Eddie Adams Workshop since attending the Sixteenth Workshop as the High School Photographer of the Year. He has supported the workshop in numerous positions including as assistant producer of the workshop, as workshop photographer and as a member of the faculty. Pete holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. Before transferring to Duke, he spent two years studying at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication. When not working with photography and photographers, Pete enjoys riding bicycles, traveling, and live storytelling.

Amanda Voisard is a visual journalist who specializes in social issue short-form documentaries. Voisard works for leading publications such as The Washington Post, MSNBC, Getty Images, Reuters, The New York Times and is annually contracted in the photo department of the United Nations. After a year of covering the civil-war in South Sudan a multimedia video producer, Voisard returned to the United States. In 2012, she received a M.A in multimedia journalism from Syracuse University during which time she also worked in the photography department at The Washington Post. Prior to this, Voisard was a member of the award winning staff at The Palm Beach Post.

I earned a journalism degree from the University of Florida and began my career in newspapers, where I worked for nearly 15 years. Now, I'm an independent visual journalist who works for a host of clients who appreciate a strong narrative. I love documentary projects, sports culture, and allowing people's personality to come out in portraiture. My primary focus in my personal projects has been on social issues, including poverty, immigration, and how people are affected by the criminal justice system.
