Visual storytelling is something I have always had a passion for. I have worked as a visual journalist full time since 2008. Prior to that I spent four years serving in the United States Marine Corps and have travelled all over the U.S. I enjoy human interest stories; especially profile pieces where you learn something about a person you may not have noticed otherwise. I've worked with Sony and Canon camcorders, Nikon and Canon DSLRs, studio and location lighting, audio gear including Sennheiser wireless mic systems. I have experience editing with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. I currently have basic knowledge of After Effects.

About Rich K.

I've been shooting and editing video for the past eight years, but I've shot political and social-justice events stretching back to the '90s. Even got a few pieces to air on KCET, at the time the Los Angeles PBS affiliate, when I worked for CamNet the Camcorder Network. I continue to be most interested in issues involving social causes and political movements (LGBTQ+ issues, in particular). I have a portfolio site (linked below) where you can watch some of my work, and am armed with a Panasonic Lumix GH5, a Canon 1080 HD camcorder with both external and lav microphones, and a tripod. Also have a GoPro Hero 5 and an iPhone 8. I edit on Adobe Premiere Pro, but do iMovie for quickie no-frills projects. Please check out my work, I hope you'll like what you see. -- Rich

I got into video production in High School. Since then I've graduated school with a Bachelor's of Communication with a Video Production Emphasis. Over the last 13 years I've worked on lots of productions with varying size of budgets and crew ranging from running cameras and replays at live events and sports production for ESPN to small independent documentary-style shoots. I'm an efficient "one-man-band" and own all of my own gear including 5D mkIII, Phantom 3 advanced and plenty of other production gear.

Based between the Great Plains and New York City, I am a graduate of the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service with a BA in broadcast journalism and religious studies and an MPA in international policy. A short form documentary producer and shooter with experience editing, I co-founded BellyFire Productions in 2015 after working for several years in global education and the nonprofit sector and traveling extensively in the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. In addition to working on social issue focused short form documentaries with digital production teams at NBC and CNN, we collaborate with social impact actors - nonprofits, foundations, businesses - as they strive to generate awareness and drive change.

I absolutely love what I do - solving problems with stories. I graduated from the University of Utah in 2016 with a heavy focus on story-telling and screenwriting. From there, I picked up video-production skills by jumping into the world of political video and multi-media journalism, covering events ranging from presidential visits to the Sundance film festival. I enjoyed my time of employment, but found myself wanting to go my own way. I made my own enterprise, Lantern Light Media, and have been creating video for local companies, professional creatives, and local news organizations for the last several years, which I've found to be tremendously fulfilling. I am eager to break out into the larger world, and uncover the important untold stories that shape our future.

Martin Andres Markovits is an award-winning writer, director, producer and multi-media reporter. He worked as a freelance journalist in Latin America for publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle, The New Statesman, Fusion and the Huffington Post. He has produced video features for China Global Television Network and the PBS News Hour and was an international correspondent for CGTN America. He has reported extensively in Venezuela and Mexico covering both the Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro presidencies and also the Mexican drug war. Martin graduated with a master's degree in broadcast journalism from Columbia University. His directorial debut “Tupamaro: Urban Guerrillas” won Best Feature Film at the 2017 Beverly Hills International Film Festival and Best Documentary Feature at the 2017 UK Film Festival. It premiered on Nat Geo Mundo and ARTE. Martin is a Los Angeles native and graduated from UCSB with a degree in political science.
