I'm a veteran communications professional primarily with a newspaper background, but also university communications and freelance magazine work. The bulk of my writing career has been in feature and sports writing. In features, my areas of specialty have been food (primarily cheese), local history and music. Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm a visual storyteller who believes the camera is a tool that can shake the foundations of power. I try focus the lens on people building a better world. I've worked and learned video production with some amazing organizations and programs. I owe them a lot for their guidance. As an alum of UW-Madison in Political Science, I became an elder fellow and producer/editor/DP at UW-Milwaukee's documentary program, doc|UWM. I then became an intern/production assistant with Al Jazeera's Emmy Award winning program Fault Lines. I worked as the Production Coordinator of the Emmy award winning Kennedy Center Honors Films. I was filming in Baltimore during the uprising after the police killing of Freddie Gray, when I was hired to work with The Laura Flanders Show - a economic and social justice program that focuses on solutions to systemic issues plaguing the United States. I eventually became a Senior Producer and Co-Creative Director of the show. My freelance work includes video and producing with AJ+, The Guardian, Fusion, Frontline, Voces de la Frontera, PBS Newshour, PBS (Quiet Pictures), the Center for Investigative Reporting, Voice of America - Eurasia, and National Partnership for New Americans. For the last five years I've been Co-Director, DP, and Co-Editor of the feature documentary film The Sacred and The Snake. Our film collective and I received the Storyhunter award for "Best Untold Story of 2016" for our reporting at Standing Rock with Fusion. We lived at the resistance camp from August 2016, until it was raided in late February 2017. We are incredibly grateful for the support of communities of Indigenous peoples and Water Protectors. It's been humbling. We've received support from The Milwaukee Film Brico-Forward Fund, The Berkeley Film Foundation, International Documentary Association's (IDA), Bay Area Video Coalition, IFP, Camden International Film Festival fellowship, and Doclands. I enjoy times with family, friends, and the outdoors. I am passionate about telling stories of risk takers and the fight, but definitely welcome lighter stories. I am an photographer, filmmaker and new media professional, and have worked as a producer, cameraman, and editor for many online documentary and storytelling collectives. As a documentary filmmaker, I collaborate with other storytellers from all across the world, working together to produce both original feature films and web documentaries. As a photographer, I specialize in portraits and advertising shoots. Since 1998, I have been hired by such clients as Atlantic Records, Animal Planet, Discovery Communications, Harley-Davidson, SC Johnson, Al Jazeera (London), and the National Gallery of Art (Washington DC). I recently worked at the University of Wisconsin - Madison's Wisconsin Center for Education Research conducting research in education and developing new forms of documentary-style field data acquisition. Fábio Erdos is a Brazilian documentary filmmaker and photographer member of Panos Pictures, one of the world's leading independent and award-winning photographic agencies. In 2019, Fábio won a World Press Photo award for the film "Marielle and Monica", produced for The Guardian, and in 2021 he was invited to serve as a jury member for the World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest. His films have been shown at several festivals, like GLAAD (New York), One World Media (UK), La Gacilly Photo Festival (France), the Museum of Tomorrow, the Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro), and he was shortlisted for the IDA Documentary Awards. ​ Previous to his film and photography career, Fábio worked for the international non-profit ActionAid for many years, where he gained experience in grassroots work on poverty and social inequality. During this time he worked in rural communities in Northeast Brazil, a region that suffers from one of the worst droughts in the last 50 years, in Haiti, a year after the devastating earthquake of 2010, and in the rural communities of Mozambique. These experiences inspired him to pursue filmmaking and photography as a way to convey contemporary socio-environmental issues.​ ​ Fábio focuses on documenting stories through a personal and intimate narrative, aiming to bring awareness and, most importantly, impact on social and environmental issues.

For the past decade Ryan Sarnowski has worked as an artist and educator. Ryan's first feature, "Passing the Baton: The Joe Sims Milwaukee Striders Story", aired on Wisconsin Public Television and he is currently working on his second feature length documentary "Last of the Lawsonomists". He also is Co-Director of doc|UWM, a documentary center based at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he has worked with students to produce over 120 short films. Ryan holds an MFA from UWM in Film Production and a BFA from Florida State University. Ryan enjoys tell stories of common people living uncommon lives. He strives to understand the social implications of his characters as they accomplish something seemingly ordinary but circumstantially difficult or change the world in their own way. Ryan comes from a background in both traditional and experimental forms of visual storytelling. Ryan aspires to incorporate more art into his documentaries while staying true to its subject. He believes unexpected visuals complement a films stories and themes while creating a unique way for viewers to engage with them. He is applying through POV to accelerate the approval process.
