Prior to joining Xinhua and Daily Reporter, I worked with Cameroon Equinoxe TV and Radio as Reporter, Anchor and News editor, Cameroon Journal as editor and MSME News Network in Malaysia as African correspondent. With over 10 years experience practising journalism and covering everything under the sun, I have reported extensively in my country Cameroon and beyond on politics, health, sports, corruption, human rights, climate change, environment and business. Nalova Akua is a Cameroonian multimedia journalist with a strong news and feature writing background covering conflict, human rights, health and environment. Nalova holds a Bachelor degree in journalism and has featured in media outlets including BBC Future Planet, The Epoch Times, African Arguments, El País, and Euronews. Nalova has won a number of national and international awards including the International Centre for Journalists' Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling in 2022 which came with a reporting grant and a customized internship at the Economist headquarters in London. In 2023, Nalova was shortlisted for BBC Komla Dumor Award - an award established to honour Komla Dumor, an exceptional Ghanaian broadcaster and presenter for BBC World News, who died suddenly aged 41 in 2014. In 2024, he was shortlisted for theTrue Story Award, which is a global journalism prize that aims to increase the diversity of perspectives in the media, organized by the True Story Foundation in partnership with Reportagen Festival Bern.
