    About Gabriel K.

Gabriel recently returned from directing and DPing a short documentary on the border of Gaza. His anticipated short film Latent will be released this year, and Gabriel is in mid-stage preproduction for his first feature length project, "Benji's Hour," having just made public the concept trailer for it: vimeo.com/404372408. Aside from coming on as DP, services Gabriel can provide on a client to client basis include graphic design, still photography, 1st AC, film/commercial editing, writing, and directing. Award winning writer and director Gabriel Kahane's work has screened all around the country, winning him a Grand Jury Prize at the Oscar qualifying Flickers Rhode Island International Film festival and screening at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater. Gabriel's DP work has given him vast knowledge of current industry grade digital cinema equipment, having worked with a variety of cine-cameras, lenses, and grip equipment. Gabriel is proficient with the Arri, Canon, Sony, and Blackmagic cinema camera series; though he is able to work with any camera. His main priority is to work very closely with the director to bring their vision to fruition, while offering ideas and expertise in the process. Kahane' s work tends to live in the realm of independent narrative film, but he has worked both above and below the line on commercial projects and feels at home in the world of corporate video and advertising. Gabriel's primary concern is creating professional and quality content on par with the project's vision.

    About Yana P.

I am a Bulgaria-born, Chicago-bred, Brooklyn-based photojournalist, editor and writer, driven by a passion for creative visuals, science, technology, climate change, the economic and political state of the world, art, architecture, anthropology, the beauty of the written word, and the true sense of equality. I aim to create and curate visuals with style and meaning — whether in a historic context or just beyond the surface of mundanity. What's more, as an immigrant to U.S. shores, I very much care to bridge humans’ understanding of one another — and most of all, connect the work I do as a woman in a male-dominated industry behind the camera, to how women manage in the world in front of it. My current and past clients, both across the States and the world, have included National Geographic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Getty Images, Reuters, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, THE CITY, Bloomberg, Yahoo News, AFP, Rolling Stone, Nature, Discover, New York magazine, Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, TIME, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune, among others. I have received awards from PDN’s Photo Annual, NPPA, American Photography and TED's Visualizing Climate Change contests; grants to further my projects from the National Geographic Society, the Pulitzer Center, the International Women's Media Foundation, Getty Images + Panasonic Lumix and Leica Camera; and have exhibited my work via Photoville, Leica Camera, the International Center of Photography and Bulgaria's National Gallery of Art. I have also taught journalism and photography courses and led workshops through the Pulitzer Center, Brooklyn Public Library, NYU, The School of The New York Times/Fordham University, and Leica Camera USA. No matter the time zone or topic, you could find me at x or +1.x.

    About Mark R.

Mark Elijah Rosenberg is a film director, writer, editor and producer, and is the Founder and former Artistic Director of Rooftop Films. Mark’s feature film directorial debut, Approaching the Unknown, tells the story of a man alone on a one-way journey in space. It is a philosophical sci-fi film about exploring the limits of human experience to appreciate that the mysteries of the universe will always be ineffable. The film was theatrically distributed by Paramount Pictures, and is available on iTunes and Amazon. Approaching the Unknown (formerly titled Ad Inexplorata) was selected for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, was given the NHK Screenwriting Award and the Indian Paintbrush Award, and was supported by Creative Capital, the San Francisco Film Society, The Jerome Foundation and Cinereach. The film stars Mark Strong, Luke Wilson, Sanaa Lathan, Anders Danielson Lie and Charles Baker. Mark directed, co-produced and created the story for Year Million, a six-hour fiction / documentary hybrid mini-series about the effects of technology on the future of humanity. The show aired on National Geographic and was nominated for two Emmy Awards. Mark's taste and work favor low-budget, personal cinema. Mark has shot, directed, and edited numerous short films, and was a producer-editor on the Emmy Award-winning WNYE television show IMNY, where he taught video production to New York City public school students. Mark co-produced Orbit(Film), an omnibus movie about our solar system, and directed the Mars film, titled No Message Received. He is also developing a screenplay about a man who discovers he has a limited but amazing super power, a comic book series about a man who reads people’s journals, and other magical realist films. You can see more of his directorial work on Vimeo, and his cute dog videos on YouTube. Born and raised in New York City, Mark Elijah Rosenberg received his BA from Vassar College and began making and showing movies on his roof in 1997 as the Founder and Artistic Director of Rooftop Films, a non-profit organization committed to building community through the medium of film, by showing independent movies in outdoor locations, producing and supporting new films, coordinating youth media education, and renting equipment at low cost to artists. Under Mark’s leadership, Rooftop Films has become one of the most innovative film companies in the country, creating unique events for hundreds of films each year and attracting over 40,000 attendees annually. Mark has published articles on filmmaking and programming, and been a guest lecturer at places such as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Texas. Mark has served on grants panels for Cinereach, NYSCA, LMCC and Renew Media, and is on the Advisory Council for Fractured Atlas. Mark has programmed film screenings across the world, and was on the jury at numerous festivals including Sundance and SXSW.
