If you’ve seen Bong Joon-Ho’s Oscar-winning “Parasite,” which is set in Seoul, South Korea, and depicts the wealth divide, you’ve probably spent hours obsessing over the film’s amazing production design. Us, too. Which is why we just had to talk to production designer Ha-Jun Lee. He takes us behind the scenes to explain how he created a modern mansion for the rich Park family and the flooded basement the Kim family called home. He also reveals the cost of one of the film’s expensive props and shares surprising design influences. Everyone is out at night in Jinju, South Korea, during a two-week period in the fall. No one wants to miss the Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival, which honors the nation’s fallen soldiers. At the heart of the event is a parade of lanterns floating on the Namgang River. The colorful creations resemble animals and national landmarks. There’s lots happening on land, too, including live performances, fountain displays and fireworks. Each night of Ramadan, thousands of pilgrims come together to pray and break the fast at the holy shrine of Imam Reza, in Mashhad, Iran. It’s the world’s largest iftar, a meal eaten after sunset by Muslims observing Ramadan to break their daily fast. Cooking for such a crowd starts early and goes long. Over 400 volunteer chefs arrive at 5 a.m. to make culinary magic from 2 tons of fresh vegetables
