About Jessica

I am a bilingual multimedia journalist and producer with a passion for character-driven stories rich in narrative and nuance. Primarily a writer and editor, I have extensive experience working in collaboration with teams of videographers, social media storytellers and infographic and other multimedia content producers to create stories presented across platforms. I previously worked as a digital editor at WLRN (Miami's NPR affiliate), a reporter on Univision’s digital news team and a staff writer at the alt-weekly Miami New Times. I have also worked extensively as a freelance writer, translator and producer. Outside of media, clients include the World Bank, World Wildlife Fund and various universities.

In 2017 alone, the Salvadoran government expects to receive 30,000 deportees from the U.S. and Mexico. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of them will not be violent criminals. In San Salvador, we met three English teachers who grew up in California but - for various reasons - were deported to a country they barely knew. Now they are working for a brighter future.
