CHRISTIAN DE REZENDES – Director, Producer, Cinematographer and Editor. Through his company Breaking Branches Pictures (est. 1996), Christian has received over 35 filmmaking awards for his work as a Director, Cinematographer and Editor. He has over 20 directing credits, and many of his films have been distributed, screened internationally at film festivals, and have been broadcast regionally on PBS. His films cover a wide range of topics such as the Station Nightclub fire, art therapy, epilepsy, children with special needs, spirituality and faith-based services, LGBTQ rights and historic preservation. Christian has directed and produced critically acclaimed and award-winning films, including the documentary features Alzira’s Story (2000), 41 (2007) and Raising Matty Christian (2014), and the fully improvised dramedy feature Getting Out of Rhode Island (2003). His short documentaries such as Zach: A Film about Epilepsy (2009), Thinking Through the Drink (2010) REVEALED: Portraits Beneath One’s Surface (2011), Fred and Emile (2015), Fueling Fierce: The Shannon Heil Story (2016) and Love Is the Energy (2019), have also received international attention. Christian has also directed multi-award-winning short narratives, such as the comedy Cat Scratch (2012), and Memories for Sale (2013), a short drama based on the play by Jerry Bisantz, and in a co-production with Image Theater in Lowell, MA, and the comedy It Might Be Me (2016). In 2014, Christian directed and edited the feature doc Raising Matty Christian, about the life of Matthew G. Christian (1983-2009), who was born without full limbs and accomplished inspiring acts. The film won 10 top film festival awards including the Best of Fest Audience Award at the Woods Hole Film Festival and has been officially selected by 16 festivals nationwide. The film is now available through Amazon Prime. He is currently directing the historical documentary series Slatersville: America’s First Mill Village. The film will be his most ambitious work to date, and is slated to premiere in 2021. Christian continues to offer film production and post-production services for corporate, commercial and non-profit clientele throughout New England in the fields of medical equipment, ballet performance, faith-based youth programs, services for troubled youth, health care, jewelry sales, traffic engineering and energy medicine schooling, musical performance and the homeless.... to name a few.
