In 1986 Timothy Brian Cole, then a sophomore at Texas Tech University, was wrongfully convicted of raping a fellow student and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He would serve 14 years before dying in his cell of a severe asthma attack. Tim Cole would go on to become the first person in the state of Texas to be posthumously exonerated.
