About

Sarah Betcher has a masters degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from the University of Alaska Fairbanks focused ethnographic filmmaking. Her debut film, Tradition in Tune, takes viewers into the cultural world of the Athabascan fiddling tradition. Sarah is now owner of Farthest North Films and specializes in creating media that communicates across cultures. She has produced film material for the Smithsonian Institution’s Arctic Studies Center, departments at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and several Alaska Native and non-Native organizations. Sarah’s film projects have been funded by National agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Science Foundation and the United State Department of Agriculture; as well as several other Native and non-Native agencies. Recently, Sarah became an award-winning recipient of a Greenpeace documentary film competition with her work titled "Sea Ice Secure", exploring sea ice use in a changing Arctic landscape.
