About Wairimu

I wear multiple hats in a professional, creative and innovative way. I am a Photographer, Television and Radio producer. I have a keen interest in doing documentary and feature stories. Nevertheless, I am open to do journalist news related work and also commercial work. I am eager to tell the world about the creative ways in which Africans tackle various social issues that they find themselves in. In so doing, I hope to honor the struggles of those who smile through the pain of life’s challenges and also present lessons that others may learn from. In order to present these stories truthfully, I continuously strive to improve my skills in the 3 fields of media I concentrate in. I work / have worked with various media houses and organizations including BBC World Service, ReutersThomson, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). PRI (Public Radio International), UN, Oxfam, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), World Vision, Bok go bibliotek, Operation Eyesight among others. I have a bachelor of Arts in communications. In addition, I studied photojournalism and documentary at the Market Photo Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg. I also have a diploma in the French language. A bronze award winner in the Contemporary Portrait Category by The Portrait Masters. A nominee for The Prix Pictet 4th cycle award, the world's leading photographic award in sustainability, I have the capacity to deliver assignments as briefed, professionally and on time. I look forward to working with you. Regards, Wairimu --
