About John
My name is John de Dios and I am a multi-media storyteller having had the opportunity to tell my stories using text, photos, audio, video, page and some web design. I am a freelance video producer for National Geographic News; the digital media director for the Genetic Literacy Project; the main photographer for the University of Arizona Office of Communications; and I have had work published on outlets like Scientific American Blogs, Arizona Republic, Tucson Weekly, Arizona Daily Star, Fox News Latino, and the New York Times Student Journalism Institute. I am a former educator and I've done plenty of mentoring for young photographers, videographers, journalists all over the world.

"Biosphere 2’s 676,000-gallon ocean was originally designed in the 1980s as a coral reef. But it was expensive to maintain, and the coral died. The ocean was under threat of elimination, but the current stewards at the University of Arizona have big plans. They're making their ocean into a replica of the nearby Gulf of California, the body of water that influences Biosphere 2."
