About

I'm James Allen Smith and I've been making TV & films for over 12 years. I wrote and produced five seasons of A&E's Emmy Nominated HOARDERS. I have also edited and directed various commercials including a national TV campaign for ZULILY. Additionally, I produced, directed and edited a number of documentary style videos for SWEDISH HOSPITAL, FRED HUTCH, AMGEN, PATH, MICROSOFT, and SUR LA TABLE to name a few. ​ When I'm not busy working to tell stories for clients, I pursue my personal passion projects. I directed two feature-length documentaries, most notably FLOORED, a look into the unique and fleeting world of open outcry floor trading. Floored was praised in many industry media channels including NYT, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, Businessweek and Marketplace on NPR. ​ I have written and produced multiple works of fiction as well. THE EXCHANGE is an episodic fictional drama pilot, written by Marcus Goodwin, currently making rounds within network markets. HASKELL is a sci-fi short film I wrote and directed which is currently on the festival circuit.
