About
TEDx speaker, award-winning filmmaker and internationally published multimedia journalist with solid editorial and photography background. Launched my career in 2006 as a freelance arts & culture writer and travel photographer; specialized in documentary filmmaking at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where I won the 2012 duPont/Judy F. Crichton Award for visual storytelling. My passions lie with the world's diverse cultures, their unique traditions and expressions, and the people who make them come alive. I aspire to do work that educates, empowers and inspires, breaking down cultural barriers and taboos, and cultivating the beauty of life and human connection. I love docs focusing on fascinating characters who provide a glimpse into the diversity of the human experience and raise questions about our society, attitudes, beliefs. Born in Bulgaria, I'm a citizen of the world fluent in four languages, based in Jamaica since 2015, where I also make fiction films, raise my son and teach visual storytelling at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
