About Jason

Jason Greene is a cinematographer, photographer and documentary filmmaker interested in social issues and the collaborative nature of filmmaking. Most recently, he was the Director of Photography for the film “55 Days,” about a war widow learning to let go of her loss, and the Director of Photography for “Jay Myself” with director Stephen Wilkes, currently in post production. He is the Multimedia Director at Taking Focus, Assistant Producer at Blue Chalk Media, and a Co-Founder of Haptic Cinema. Blue Chalk Media consistently works with clients such as The Weather Channel, New York Times T-Brand, Freedom House and many other collaborators and clients. Taking Focus is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the nature of documentary storytelling, giving it the additional purpose of giving back to those who are documented. He is particularly passionate about the storytelling nature of cinematic visuals and strives to make those lyrical, honest and powerful.

    In this film, fifth generation oysterman Rickey Banks who wonders whether his son will be able to continue the tradition to a sixth generation. In 2012, Apalachicola Bay saw its oyster harvest diminish 88%. The reasons are multifaceted, but high salinity caused by an unusual regional drought and sea level rise are primarily to blame. Both factors are likely linked to climate change.
