About David

The Paris-based film maker David Guersan was surrounded by cameras and reporting from birth. Inspired by a father who made journalism his life; a creative character who travelled to the ends of the earth in search of compelling stories. Today David has evolved into a passionate, award winning film maker, producing work which has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people and featured by the likes of Fubiz, the BBC, Outside Magazine and more. His first exhibition focused in on the captivating stories of Parisian tattooing, a steep learning curve which propelled him onto the production path towards becoming a video journalist. Since then David has never looked back, he has directed several projects around the world for independent productions. Back in France, David worked for major TV stations like Endemol and Banijay Group. These experiences allowed him to develop his editorial education and utilise his creative skills within the departments of broadcasting development. Today he uses his passion and experience to express himself as a Freelance Filmmaker and for the past five years has developed several personal projects while working for the big names of French Media: ALJAZEERA - VICE - Envoyé Special - Arte -Taratata - M6 - W9 … David’s unique experiences have shaped his journalistic journey and his search for authenticity has led him to the furthest reaches of the globe. David is now focusing on the world of documentary and reports to re-transcribe his point of view on a humanist way.

This summer David Guersan directed 10 films Portraits of foreigners having been helped by the OFII : French Office for Immigration and Integration (attached to the Ministry of the Interior) for the socio-professional return in their country of origin. Today each of these people received a support by the OFII to bring to a successful conclusion their new life projects. Produced by Burgundi Prod, we went to meet them in their country. We followed each person for 2 days and transcribed in each of the films their new life and hope for the future. Created in 1945, OFII, French Office for Immigration and Integration is now the only French State’s operator in charge of immigration procedures (family, student and professional), the reception of asylum seekers, the integration of new arrivals and the voluntary return and reintegration of foreign nationals.
